2 big thumbsup for Chris and Miles  : smooch: this was such an awesome read and because of course everyone knows how I am about Lasonic old school and new school. My original TRC975 is what got me started in collecting these awesome machines and even getting back my original 931 was such a great feeling. I'm so excited about Lasonic and how they are the only company that listens to what consumers want.

There are many people that just don't understand Lasonic is trying to make these units cost effective for everyone. I mean $140 shipped on a brand new I931 BTQ is cheaper now than the original TRC 931 that went for back in the 80's, which was about $150-$160. I'm sure if Lasonic built a way better quality boombox that would sell 3 times as much and not many consumers could enjoy it because of cost  heck look for an example the TDK cost and build quality feels much better than Lasonic but you still have issues with them even though you paid lots more.

So I am now looking forward to what's new for Lasonic, and again thank you Chris and Miles thumbsup:

Bad Boy Bill
Hey Bill, Albert and I spoke about Lasonic's direct competition. We spoke about the TDK and he is very aware of the issues they have faced and how price and quality come into play. He really wants to improve in house assembly quality as well as design quality but he also understands these are BOOM "Boxes" not art projects. Albert totally understands Lasonic's legacy and is proud of it. I think that is very cool. But in the end, it's still a business. He explained to me in detail what it takes to make the molds and the cost involved is HUGE! He looked at the TRC-920 I brought and pulled the knobs off and looked at the buttons and switches closely. We both agreed, his father did an amazing job on design. Of course it's all personal taste, but I think some of Lasonic's designs were some of the best eye candy blasters ever made. And the iconic speaker Crash Bars define the 1980's as much as a red Ferrari Testarossa. Again, not bad for a small company.

And to you Miles, YOU ARE THE MAN! You are taking the straight love of radios to a whole new level FOR US ALL. I can't wait to see where this all goes!

I really got goose bumps reading your post! As a true lasonic lover I envy your chances to have gone to Lasonic and see everything you have.

The carry case is probably something I will get to protect my grafitti i931.

So cool man, rock on!
I was thinking of you guys the whole time I was there. I was thinking of the "True Lasonic Lover" like yourself. When I spoke to Albert and had the chance to ask him questions, he was answering to "Us All". The Lasonic Guys! He is making company decisions for the FANS. He has heard our battle cry....to me, this is the first time I have ever seen that happen.

Something I didn't mention before, Albert shut the factory down so Miles could come in and film! ! ! I asked him that straight up and he indeed shut the place down. He understands the importance of what Miles is doing, what his father did. He gave Miles access to the whole building, to film the assembly area, to see the products that will be coming. I was completely floored. He did it solely for the fans!

From what I have seen, I firmly believe the best Lasonic's are yet to come!

That is extremely exciting. Chris, Miles, is Albert a Boomboxery member? I'm curious if He/the Company still has every Lasonic model they've made, in their collection.

One thing I will share with you all is a brand new product. A carrying case for the i931.

It also has a clip on shoulder strap

The coolest feature is the removable speaker covers

You can pull the speaker covers off and keep on Blasting!

The beauty part is, it will fit other radios like this Trident.

These just became available on the Lasonic website this week HERE
I was excited to get one of these cases, and true, they do fit many blasters. Today I took my 3rd gen TRC-931 to Beat Swap Meet in the case. When I got there I saw Fresh Produce and MacDaddy Freshness. I had been carrying the box with the strap for two blocks and set it on the ground so I could shake their hands. When I did, the strap unclipped from one of the D-rings on the side of the case.
Fortunately it was already on the ground, so no harm done, but if I was still carrying it with the strap...

Seems the weight of the old-school 931 loaded with 10 10K mAh D batteries was too much for the clips: they had stretched as I walked down the street. :-O :nonono:

Lasonic was at BSM and I showed the stretched clips to one of the guys at the table. I suggested that they should put a disclaimer on the website that states these case are for the i931 series only (much lighter even with batteries), or better yet, replace the straps with ones that have stronger clips on them. This week, I'm going to follow up with Lasonic about this.

So a heads up: if you buy this case, replace the strap clips yourself, don't use the strap at all, or don't put anything heavier than an i931 in it.

Go!

I straight up asked Albert to name his price! ANY PRICE....he just laughed at me  :-/ I wanted that so bad. But that's a family heirloom. He can't part with it.

Yes, Albert does come on here from time to time. They do not have every model. They are trying to get models back. Keep in mind, Albert is a young man. He was a baby when Lasonic was in it's hay day. There are lots of models he hasn't seen as an adult. How ever, he does have a lot of prototypes that WE have never seen. Lots of wild 931's and i931 one offs. Radio's with TV's in them, crazy colors.

Well, I don't have all my Lasonic's here at home right now.

Here is something I didn't mention before. My 918 and 920 are being serviced by their technician that has been with the company since the 1980's! I'm hoping he can get them worked out. They are so tired and worn out.

Yeah, that could have made for a bad day. Thankfully no damage happened.

I think if your going to use the "i931 Carrying Case" with vintage radios, you need to use a Blu_Fuz strap with the case. The Blu_Fuz strap super robust and was designed to handle the HEAVIEST radio's where the i931 strap is designed just for the weight of that model.

The TRC-935 I was carrying all day had 10 Duracell's in it and was close to 23 lbs. I used the Blu_Fuz strap with the handle locks strap ends.

Yeah I'll prolly do that. It nearly doubles the price of the case, but you do get piece of mind.

Imma still follow up with Lasonic though; having the mothership upgrade the clips would be best.

Go!
