Good discussion in here. Always a few sides to what people really think value is. The market is still strong for M90's and will probably continue to be as long as they aren't dried up and used for door stops. A member and I made a deal for a truly cosmetically MINT M90 I had in my collection (besides dust) about a year ago. Even at $2,000 he was happy as a clam and to this day I still have sellers remorse not because I think I could have got more money for it, but because when will I ever find one that clean again? At the time I needed the cash more than the blaster, but that member and I are tight enough that if I really really really wanted that M90 back in my collection, we would work it out.

I don't think $1500 for an average M90 is out of the question. Based on prices, anything between $900-$1300 would be a deal if there is no real damage or missing pieces.

Good luck to you all!

PS, I wasn't impressed with the 2 Sanyo M9994's I had

The time, effort and love that goes into a ‘complete rebuild’ is what I’d pay the big $$$$s.

Norm, if you ever decide to do another M9994 rebuild, I’m your guy. :-) (seriously)

Jimmy, interesting proposal and things change all the time, but the past few years, I have done very little servicing and restoration tasks. Health issues, difficulty in lifting most boomboxes more than 10 pounds, weakness in fingers and joints, and rheumatoid arthritis affecting finger dexterity, declining vision making working up close difficult at best.... these have all conspired and threaten to change forever my future plans with the boombox hobby. Still I have good days and bad days so who knows. I still have a stash of M9994's somewhere -- I might get to restoring them someday.

I learned my lesson a long time ago if I can't buy a Boombox for $300 they can keep the mother f*****.

That's the limit I'll spend I don't give a f*** what it is

I don't buy anything for resale value I buy it for me if I have to sell it it's because I have no choice.

Nobody...& I mean Nobody built 80's boomboxes like JVC. Hands down the best of the best in MHO...built like tanks, lots of power, every board inside has it's own harness & connectors, classic iconic looks, 6 & 8 band tuners verging on world band coverage, the only polymer coated woofers for the M90 & M50, zero buzz or hum in their pre-amp & amp circuits, etc. The M90 owns the rest, hands down...The M70 is a midsize beast that is just as loud & sounds better than a C-100 to me with those sexy bolt on rings & horn tweeters. The 838 with it's iconic classic looks, warm sound 6 band radio & Tie fighter tweeter grills.

For me, JVC rocked the rest & put them down for the dirt nap...BAM!!
