Thanks for all the comments guys I'm touched, yes my dad was a hip cat howie, he died aged 64 with the body of an 80 year old but the mind and soul of someone much younger. I know for sure if he was here now he would still be jamming out he's rock music and cracking jokes as I remember :-)
My dad was 67 when he passed. And yes he too deteriorated at the end of his illness so I empathize with your experience.

Btw, your Crown is going to turn into one of your personal Grails because of this connection it's now having with your father. It's beyond just another boombox and is achieving priceless tribute status. From now on, every time you see it, it will remind you of him. I know because that's what my Rising 20/20 means to me. No matter what, that is the only box in my collection that is truly priceless and will be with me till the end.

So sorry for your loss bro! I know how it feels.
Surprisingly he lives in you and generations to follow. We inherited a lot from parents and always appreciate what all we learned and got from them. My love for electronics is all inherited from my father. I miss him every min of my life.

To remember him I bought most of the items he had way back then. Always loved the gadgets he had.. PYE Blackbox, Akai GX747, Philips B7X44A stereo tube radio, Philips transistor L6X38T radio and so on....

Hard to let go of someone especially when it's your parent. I agree with others your dad was a hip hero!

Listening to that track reminds me so much of the 80's era. Such a great era and I bet your dad loved it too.

My condolences bro'.

My dad was a 70's fan really, he liked bands like Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy and the Eagles etc.....he did like 80's boxes though :-) thanks for the kind words ford93.

What a great tribute to your Dad, he would be proud that you are remembering him for the good bits. I lost my Dad when i was a teen and i feel that every time I use my boxes he is remembered and i am in some way honouring him, he had them, got me into them and i just know he looks down and thinks "nice boxes son, i like that Crown/Sharp/JVC"

I coped with it then just as i do now, I think of him, remember the good bits and try to be a great father and hope hes proud when i meet him at the crossroads.

You have a lovely family so look forward to things to come not the things that were, we cannot change what was but you can help shape the things that will be. Truly thinking of you at this time mate.

Sorry you lost your dad at such a young age T_STER, my dad lost his dad at 14 so I guess I'm lucky to have had mine for 41 years. There's a lot of things I never got to speak to him about and that kind of hurts, thanks for your kind words mate it means a lot

Hey, I just got a Crown 950 too. I'm trying to use the line in function but can't get it to work. I used the two line in holes and I get no sound. The function switch doesn't have line in, just phone. I plugged in RCA's to the phone input and I get sound but it sounds absolutely like crap!!! What am I doing wrong?

Yes it has phono function only, you will need a phono to line in converter to get proper sound howie  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Phono-to-line-level-Adaptor-/262347536155?hash=item3d1521b71b:g:SLsAAOSw2ENW8Vha

Az is right, get a phono attenuator and the Crown will sound sweet :-)
