Not have the technical expertise of Ye Wise Ones of this forum I did an internet search to identify the part I now know as a 'leaf switch'.
Setting about a clean up and resto of a Panasonic RX-C36 I found the leaf switch to be loose. (At this stage I do not know if this is/was a contributing...
Here we go again! So then, a £10 fare being duly paid, I've provided a permanent home to a forlorn little chap called Sharp GF-A2H(BR) for the duration.
The young chap as he arrived:
At first glance this little gem appears to be in a reasonable condition, radio works fine, tape head...
Hi all,
Looking to purchase some outers, the original S-Woofers are still good.
Original piezo tweeters failed and replaced with 2inch 4ohm Toshiba TV speakers
Should I go with 2 or 4 ohm outer speakers:
Kenwood KFC-E1754 (Whizzer Cone) - they color match the chassis better...
4ohm, 92dB SPL...
Hi all, this is the brief story so far:
I bought a Sharp GF-9000 new in 1983 whilst in Saudi Arabia the kept it in UK until about 10-15 years ago hen I GAVE(!) it away to a young man out of kindness. I'd just about forgotten all about it until a couple of weeks ago when I just happened to see...
Stumbled over site whilst looking for help with my sharp vz 3000, originally bought it when I was 16ish about 1979. Do the maths! Been together a few years thought it was the end, had belts changed over the years, someone changed belt for me about 6 months ago, but said record side wouldn't...
Hi Guys,
Newbie just getting into the oldskool world of boombox's.
I have just got my first boombox, a Sharp GF8989. Got it Via ebay for £45. hoping thats not a bad price..
I live in yorkshire in the UK, 36 Y-Old and been wanting a classic boom box for years so have finally took the leap...
I find this to be great to keep the radio off the ground. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AmpStd?utm_source=CSE&utm_medium=PPC&zmap=AmpStd&zmac=9&zmas=1&zmam=89202644&SID=0
Well, I finally had the chance to properly photograph most of last year's additions and add them to the collection on www.myradio.berlin.
They can be found in the collection section but here they are again :)
Another fun project! Ever since knowing about this model's existence, which is actually only since a couple of months :-D I wanted one. They seem to be pretty rare, but a month ago or so there was one on ebay which I snagged.
It was relatively cheap, but it certainly has suffered a great...
Got this Sharp 777 from Ebay last week. This is one of those boxes that probably spent 3 months on Ebay because the seller was asking too much ($500/600) but I made him a offer for 300 and he took it (360 with shipping).
The good news is that almost everything works (both cassette decks, radio...
I am very happy to FINALLY be getting my hands on the SHARP GF1000. It comes from a well known collector. Superb conditon as well.
I also look to grab another one and have it painted to my liking. 999 is also on my list.
I have a question on what are the sound qualities and how may they...
Hey you guuuuyyssss!!!!
I think my time has come... Finally, I found a VZ-2000H!!! I REALLY want this, and I'd like your input. I've ALWAYS liked the Red Cone Woofer model more than the VZ-2500. This is an "as is" purchase. I'll try and find out if the deck and LP mechanism works. Costs $200...
Hi Boomboxery :)
Pardon for not introducing myself in the board first :P too lazy cuz my connection is being laggy
but I guess this is the first published attempt of modding/upgrading the monstrous SHARP GX-M10. If you haven't heard of it, check it out on the review&comparison started by TMR...
Guys, somebody stop me!! I've almost finished restoring a Sharp GF8585HB that I bought over a year ago now.. This box was in horrible condition, worst I had bought until then and not that experienced with resto's. Needed the Sharp treatment, new belts, even a paint job to get it representable...
Found a few boxes last week, couldn't leave them!!
I was after the Sharp for a long time because you guys give it so much credit "soundwise".I just didn't want to pay too much for it... The Sony was a lucky one, love the looks and its gadgets, but I'm still no great three piece lover.
The...

Brothers and Sisters,
Here are some pics of a Sharp GF-999 that I just finished restoring.
Unfortunately I don't have any "before" pics, but it was a mess when I got it--it was filthy, the decks were not working, there was no sound from the left channel, the dust caps from the two center...
So late last night I was in the middle of filming a music video and naturally we were using some of the big boxes. We were playing the 777 and I moved it from one spot to another taking care to be as gentle as possible, like I am with ALL of my treasured boxes. When I put it down on the ground...
