Dear all,
I just signed in after reading through some threads and must say I am excited!
My first contact with a boombox was in 2008 when I went on holiday and the guest house we stayed in had a 1981 Pantronic CX-473F.
I loved the box, on holiday I managed to make it work with my mp3 by...
Hi All!
Long story short I've just dropped some cash on a Sharp GF9191E, it arrives next week and is in need of the inevitable belt replacement.
I've had a quick look through the forums here...
I’m still vacationing in Barbados and I went looking for the abandoned Harp gun today.

The gun is situated near the end of the Grantley Adams airport runway. There are a lot of abandoned buildings and huts as well as the military base up...
Hi all
Being restored a SHARP VZ-2000 and I'm blocking.
The radio is working.
The cassette player is working.
But when I select the LP record part, the solenoids A and B will boot up and shunt it down. I notice that the EP/LP LEDs are off.
Any ideas?
In advance, thank you
In the early 1980s, Sharp released a series of hefty record player boomboxes under the name Sharp VZ. The VZ 2000, VZ 2500, and gargantuan VZ 3000 sported a high tech “AutoDisc†feature that allowed them to play both sides of a record without the record being flipped. The Sharp VZ series was...
Anyone have a trick on how to remove broken-off slider posts from the slider tracks without taking the top face off? Looks like removing the face will be a beast of a job. This must be a common issue since the sliders are so fragile. Here's a photo of the broken posts, there's 4 of them. :-/...

Hi All,
I have just started to restore a Sharp VZ3500E Vertical Record Player Stereo.
Having removed the old belts which had gone like tar and stuck to every surface. Photos show the pinch roller which had just melted! I changed the belts and got the record player and tape working, but some...
Recently, I heard a radio commercial of an upcoming dance that was to be a 1970s, 80s & 90s Prom theme. When I heard the "80s" part, I immediately started thinking of how cool it would be to have My boxes on display there to add to the 80s experience. Attendees were encouraged to wear Prom...
Here is a little glimpse into my ever growing collection, I will add photo's through out the week.
I just picked up this beauty, a Technics SA-C07 - Great shape and everything works as it should!
Not have the technical expertise of Ye Wise Ones of this forum I did an internet search to identify the part I now know as a 'leaf switch'.
Setting about a clean up and resto of a Panasonic RX-C36 I found the leaf switch to be loose. (At this stage I do not know if this is/was a contributing...
