I am VERY happy with it how it stands, but I would like to see maybe a photoshop of the VU section and cassette section painted red too.
you are right -
it would show it well and save you lots of time if some talented member could photoshop
any experimental changes before you actually do it-

a few oldschool shortcuts are to cut out some red color paper or some red tape - just to
get a crude preview

^ yes.

Also, looking at the VU's, I should just put a printed VU red panel in that has gray/black/or white lettering.....

Righteous Red! :hooray: I guessed right about it being your Bluetooth mod M90..
I'm always loving any box that strays from the typical black and silver..

Thanks guys. At the time I wasn't thinking how different the tweeters would look compared to the painted woofers, but you can definitely see. Probably won't open it up to paint them, but I could see blackening them up again with a sharpie marker.

Just my humble opinion Blu, but perhaps rather than a painted VU section, either RED LED's to backlight them or even clear red acetate inserted behind the VU lens?

VU's on FIRE! :chris920:

Great job Blu....one of the best box mods ever IMO!

Great color! I wouldn't bother painting the whole center section and re-labeling it, that's too much work. I might paint the part under the tape deck, though.

What kind of paint did you use on the woofers?

I like the idea of red acetate over the LEDs. Might try that.

The speakers I sprayed with some cheapo semi gloss black spray paint. I was hoping for a little more dull finish but the poly coated cones are like plastic.

Next time I go into the box I will swap VUs from my beater M90, try red acetate for the leds, and seitch out the BT module.

Maybe try running a glow tube across the tuner dial, like the one Chris used around the speakers of his J1.

^ agree, some kind of light along the top edge of the tuner window would be nice too. Didn't find anything I liked when I had it apart. Maybe future mod.

Hopefully next week I will go in it again.

No regrets painting this one, I love it!

Bringing this baby home from office duty.

Might need to tear back into the guts. I think the treble pot is suffering from the same issue the volume pot had and I need to check it out. Annoying, but with a M90, you do whatever it takes to get it rocking again.

Something doesn't sound right. The speakers are very floppy sounding and wiggle too much compared to the othe M90's. It sounded fine up until last night, not sure what the issue could be.

:-/

I don't really like the color of the LEDs much either. I'm changing to red or a different shade of white too.

I'm going to leave the leds shine from the bottom up the way they are but add some flare.

I found some red folder tabs for covering the LEDs and the red foil wrapper from my cereal bar that I will put on the top of the VU meter box to reflect the light back down and make it even a more deep red.

Here is a sample on a LED strip I have laying around.
