:agree: With bill imagine her in mahogany wow, pick of my changed 707 comming soon but i think you have seen her[/quote]

i agree i mean i have thought about doing mine like that but mine is like new and well i dont want to mess with it. i like the way it looks.

i do think one of these properly done in the way i have mentioned would be over the top in terms of classy looks.
cant wait to see it tim

If you take it all apart and just send me the case, I'll it paint 2004 "Cobra" mystic pearl. It changes color and costs $$$ but will not cost you a .01

i say go for it ira but do it up nicely.
i mean these boxes usually sell for cheap.
i think the dt707 is one of the few boomboxes that was lauded by the hifi community. i seem to remember there being a lot of write ups about this box and its sound back in the day. unfortunately with its nearly six hundred dollar price tag up here it was really expensive up here.
i think this box it important as the jvc rectangular boxes of the early era . lets face it the dt707 changed the way boomboxes looked . up until recently manufactuers were still knicking the design.
some might think its ugly but when you hit the top panel button and the display raises its just magic.

bill-
"magic" is the perfect description --

plus - uncle ed - who peer pressured me into getting a 707 :-)
called it "the sonic wonder"

our community woodworking shop-
is in a gigantic military built quonset hut --

30 x 150 with a 25 foot ceiling-
and this box blasted the entire building tonight

I bought this one new in 1998 but like a fool i sold her to buy a stack system, i only had her for about a month.

I then got her back after about 10 years swapped for a boxed kaboom had her for about a mont or so then one day i was getting out my mums car with the box and the handle give way :-O i looked on the road there she lay in two halves grrrrrrr

anyway thats when i diceded to do the change and then glued her back togeather and fixed the handle etc :-)

I will say this cd always jumps that's why i hate cd so much but but the cd has never jumped once on this box ever :w00t:

It has on my minty boxed one but never on this box :-) Glad you like her Ira i hope she gives you some insperation REALY. :-)

it has such an interesting sound -
that its not even 'fair' to run it side-by-side with any other box -

not saying the 707 is better -
but its so special -
that there are no good comparos

nope --not working for me :'-( :'-(

perhaps the aesthetic gods have ganged up -
to prevent me from posting this huge eyesore  :-O :nonono:

at this early point in the prototype -
the eggcrate is a visual nightmare :dunce: :w00t:

but still 318 % better than the 707 egg design !!
