Finally dug into the Kasuga Bolt Box project I got a couple years ago.

Not finished but enough to share the progress. This one was damn nasty inside.

Main points:
Built antenna mounts
Clean
Install BOLTS
Straighten handle
Sharpie the speakers
Polish cassette door
Fix power switch

And some more. Drill out some antenna bases. Make spacers. Mount antennas. Black the speakers.

^ I used the tweeter grills, woofer grills, and maybe the cassette door from your donor parts you gave me years ago. Thanks buddy.

That pile of shiat in picture #6 is actually 3 really big bugs.

They come from southern states and managed to get in this radio before it went through 2 more owners......

I didn't follow my own rule about opening radios outside because it was 5* outside yesterday, and sure **** I open it up and these monsters drop out of it onto my work station. Disgusting.

Ye gods! Them thar bugs are as big as ME! :w00t:

That is truly, truly frightening and if we had bugs that big
in UK then I'd emigrate to somewhere really cold!

She is back together!

For how nasty this thing was, I am really happy with the end result. I still need to polish the cassette door but that can wait for another day. It has some battle scars, I like the story they tell.

I wanted chrome dust caps before but now I don't want to distract from the beautiful chrome bolts that appear to be floating. What do you guys think, chrome dust caps or leave it?

It looks really good the way it is now.I don't think chrome dust caps are needed.Very nice job sir.As for the scars I do the same thing with my boomers, clean'em up real good, polish the cassette door and Am/FM dial.Clean up the chrome parts and that's good enuff.:)

An excellent result, you've done the box proud!

Although the speakers stand out as they should, I thing chrome dust caps would enhance the appearance by giving greater 'depth' or another 'dimension' to the speakers.

It's pretty easy to add some because the grills come off from the front. I have to dig and see if I have any chrome caps laying around and give it a look.

A great result Blu. Those bolt boxes are proper street boomers so a few battle scars is totally acceptable. I'd love one of these.
I have the version without the 'bolts'

Got a chance to polish the deck door quick and went over the tuner window a little too. Much better. I taped off the lower aluminum trim on the door and I should have taped off the upper door aluminum too. As soon as I started polishing, the aluminum made my pad black and it is more shiney than all the other aluminum. Oh well.....
