$2 million would buy a lot of mint M70s, and even one or two M90s.

Jenn's looking good, but Cassondra is smokin! :w00t:

Someone must really be in need of a mint m-70.
Im not at all surprised at the price as they dont often
come around in that kind of shape.

$500 seems crazy. But if I had the money and it was mint I might do it. Maybe....
I really want one. BAD! I wish it weren't the holidays, because I would probably be more aggressive.

It would be AMAZING if there was one under the tree, but I HIGHLY DOUBT that would happen. I don't think I've ever received a gift worth $200 or more, which is TOTALLY reasonable in my world. I do, however get A LOT of free, but priceless love from a lot of people, though. :)
Happy HOLLYDAYS!!!!

RATS!!!

I was at work.

After the last 30 second bidding frenzy on the last one I wanted, I thought it would be a lost cause if I wasn't around to bid at the last moment. Oh well. I won't give up. It's just not me to do that! :-D

This $500 one is also wanting $55 FOR SHIPPING!!!!

I put in one of those Ebay "questions" asking if there were any alternatives. You know... Other boomboxery members could ask leading "questions" to this poster. $55 is almost satanic for shipping in the continental US. Mwah, ah, AH!!!

holly --i think you are somewhat wrong about the 55 shipping price --

a valuable old classic -- like an m70 - should be carefully double boxed-
with lots of extra padding --
that makes for an oversized outer carton -
for a box thats already heavy -
and using UPS is most always mor $$ than USPS

now add full insurance --and 55 might be about correct

Except that it's $55 for me too and I'm right down the coast, whereby the actual shipping cost is more like $22 or so. So in keeping with my policy of NOT bidding on items with overpriced shipping, it's something I would never bid on. But someone in, say Boynton Beach FL might get their shipping $$'s worth. Frankly, I think it's stupid to put a flat rate shipping charge when eBay has such a nice accurate shipping calculator built in. There are many reasons why I think a flat rate shipping option results in a no-win situation but I won't go into that.

i agree --there needs to be prices per region

however --the way :super: packs --
with 6 panels of thick styrofoam --
miles of bubblewrap -
and HD double cartons -

22 bucks would not even come close .

That would be far smarter. But maybe takes too much brain cells for many sellers.

A single option encourages mostly far away bidders who thinks that $55 shipping across the country is a great deal. It also alienates / discourages nearby buyers who thinks they are overpaying, and if these local-regional buyers don't bid, the final price might not go as high. We all knows it only takes 2 bidders to strike a bidding war. Eliminate only 1 of the 2 and the all bets are off on how low can you go. Then the guy in the middle might think it's not such a great deal after all. So the best option, local regional buyers, are discouraged. I say best option because shipping time is faster and less chance of damage so better feedback and happier buyer.

An honest fair actual (plus handling, if necessary) shipping charge makes everyone happy.

The meticulous packaging for mint makes more sense...

I guess I should think twice or thrice before labeling something satanic. :angelic:

HE HE!

I woud not focus so much on the shipping charge. The only thing that matters is how much it costs in total to receive your item. If people want to haggle all day on if the shipping should be $55, $44, $33, $22 who gives a rip? When the same amount added to the PRICE of the item makes little or no difference. And for the record I don't think that $55 is too much for shipping an M70. Assuming a good job is done, double boxed, insurance etc. Now if a crappy job is done of packing then $22 is too much... or even "free"...

IMHO, if your life and well-being depend on owning an M70, and you have the money, why NOT spend $500 + $55 shipping on this one (or more, since the next bidder will have to top the current high bidder's [secret] maximum bid)?

Looks pretty nice to me, and, judging from the description (and assuming the packing is done right [which you can never predict]), it should bring you the happiness you crave. Minty fresh M70's are very hard to find, and will only get harder as the years go by. Besides, if you change your mind (or start collecting something else, like this seller says he's doing), chances are you could sell it and get your full purchase price back.

But if you're just a casual buyer and/or you can't afford to spend at least $555 (or pride yourself on getting low-cost "deals"), then this one won't be for you.

It's all how you look at it.

I bought my mint M70 I did a "best offer" on one that a seller wanted $439.95 for. We went back and forth and settled on $385. Shipping was $35, total $420. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Hell yes....

Just checked - I will also add that I just purchased a radio from this seller back near the end of October. It was less than 1/2 the size/weight of an M70, and shipping was $25. But it was packed well enough to justify the $25 IMHO. Even though that was twice the price of the radio. I chose instead to focus on the total price (still a great deal) and the safe receipt of my purchase.
