Looking for a am/fm, cassette, cd boombox, those who know me know I would prefer an Aiwa but other brands would be considered.

I don't want one of those newer "Egg" model's, detachable speakers are fine, want something that sounds good, plays loud and clear.

Probably will only use it on the power cord.

Anyone have any opinions on this please let me know.

Thanks all.

I have a lot Tony! Sony CFD-440 mint Sony CFD-550 with the rotary EQ and mega bass.
I have an Aiwa but its eggish but has tweeters on top!

Check for sale section.
Heck if you would have told me 2 weeks ago I could have maybe deliver it in person. I was just in Daytona Beach and Cleawater Beach.
I wasn't driving and we didn't have much time otherwise I would have called you Tony.
Let me know if your at all interested.
Hope your doing good.😎

tony - if you can put up with a grill dent or 2
and some normal bruises etc -
you might hit an ebay bin for 100 for a tremendous sounding kaboom

I was reading some reviews on the kaboom's and I think it's now off my possible list, new potential is the Panasonic RX DT-680 or 690.

What's the difference between the 2 Panasonics?
The line in mod looks like something I would be interested in doing also.

Ira, I was using the Sanyo you gave me today, the CD player lid still doesn't stay down, so I rigged it so I could use it. I put a small screw in the lid and another in the top of the radio and used a piece of bailing wire to hold the lid down.

First time I used it in years the CD player would start playing the first song but would not go to the next until I cleaned the laser and lubed the guides the laser moves on than it worked fine, cassette still works too !

The 680 and 690 look very similar with the 690 boasting a 3rd mid speaker. The 690 also has more power than the 680. The 680 is an older model and has a CD line out which the 690 does not. Neither unit has a factory line in.

The 680 is however, a much bassier unit with a left most 100Hz equaliser slider. The 690 equaliser slider only goes down to 330Hz.

Personally, I would choose the much more plentiful 680 over the rarer 690 model.

Note, the line in mod I posted only pertains to the 680. The 690 circuitry is likely very different.

Anyone have one for sale or trade?
Check EBay - there is a steady supply. The last 3 I bought were all under $40 ($0, $10, $40) so there are deals out there.

To most non-collectors, the 680 looks just the same as any other non-descript 80-90s 3 piece. Look under 'Panasonic radio cassette or Panasonic radio'. None of my last 3 680s had 'RX-DT680' in the item description.

Good luck,

James.... :-)

I'd have to the Panasonic rx-ds30 is a very nice sounding AM/FM,CD,cassette.Think Bose type sound. Also it has a dedicated rca line in on the back and an XBS bass enhance slider.Very clean sound, not much distortion at all.I think there's one on eBay right now .Looks a little rough cosmetically but the guy says its fully functional.Hope this helps you out.

Any stateside members out there with a spare, unwanted RX-DT680 in their collection needing a new home? It would be great if we could help ahardbOdy out. :-)

James.... :-)

Appreciate the help, since I really don't have anything I think anyone would want to trade for. MY 880 is never leaving me since most of you know I bought it brand new back in the day and I don't really collect anything. Only other one's I have is a Aiwa 660, 210 that Freddie gave me, a Sony and Sanyo that Ira gave me at one of the Sunshine mixes.
