Melvin was listening to my RX-7700 when he last visited and he/I both agree it's one sweet sounding box, possessing a warmth and depth of sound clearly lacking on most boomboxes.
... ...and Sennheisers are my headphone of choice as well...both over the ear and in ear nothing else comes close...redbenjoe said:tim -- LOTS of boxes sound better than the 7700 at LOUD volumes --
but -- its as CLEAR as my sennheisers at lower volumes --
so its hard to compare

...thanks for the recommendation...I will try those...Rimmer36 said:whats this pick on me week i have had headphones like grado 1's get a pair then you will know what headphones sound like
...I have a set of studio quality Sennheisers that I plug into my Denon reciever when I want to hear audiophile quality music. I don't use headphones on my boomers. But I will try the phones you suggested, the price doesn't bother me. I paid $1400 for my Sennheiser HD800's so paying $1000 would be a bargain. You can't put a price on quality. I will do some research on headphones and get back to you....and by the way the Grado GS1000's are far superior to the R1's. This would be a good general chat subject....what are the best audiophile quality headphones regardless of price??Rimmer36 said:Melly lets just say there not headphones for boomboxes there like $1000 headphones for real gear the ones you have are prolly best for boomers
...I used Ceramcoat acrylic paint. It is water based and easy to use. I thinned the paint for easier use and a smooth even coat.Master Z said:Great assessment Superdupe!
Love the insight. Boomboxes vs HiFi are apples to oranges as usual and I love em both!
And again melly good job on them speakers! What paint did you use?
