That came out  AWESOME
My thoughts on painting the grilles on that box were to use a small cigar roller with some matte black paint.
remove the rings and roll it on.
The M-70 definitely not the easiest to take apart either hope you had the service manual.

Do not have a service manual...>Super sent an image of the board so I could identify two screws....Basically it was remove a screw then gently tug......Remove another screw and so on.....................Then like a big DOPE.....I realized that the screws that hold the chassis top the front panel are all blue. The other screws were different colors.......SOOO once I had that it was not too bad.. :-D

hey majestic, so what are the tools of the trade? i see eagle one nevr-dull and meguiar's wax, but what got the grease off? the m&m's were just fuel for the job. ;-)

The wax is Carnuba Wax...Not the Cleaner/Wax.....The Carnuba is a final step of three when waxing your car. If you use the Cleaner/wax then you will have other chemicals in the wax mix and that may not be the best thing on painted plastic.

The never dull is for the chrome handles and aluminum trim if you choose. On aluminum it can take off your anodizing so be careful.

In the Gatorade jug is good old dish washing liquid and a little water. Use with an old toothbrush. Gets almost all the grim off. I use Ajax dish washing liquid. More soap than water...Actually if it's really nasty then straight on the toothbrush to the grim. Then nothing but a damp cloth over and over till the soap is off. Ajax or Dawn and plenty of elbow grease....

Now I use Armor All with a tooth brush after cleaning the back panel. Scrub it in and leave it. The longer the better. I know there are objections out there but ...I, me....use it. If it has worked on my 65 mustang without problems for the last fifteen years then It's good enough for my boxes.....JUST don't spray it on the the box. Put it on the rag or toothbrush then apply it to the box..

For the clear plastic, not pictured, is PlastX from Wal-mart. Again it works on my clear speedo cluster and taillights on the mustang with no issues and I use it on our 2008 Kia lenses with no issues so on it goes to my Box......TIP Put a drop on the lens at a time and work it in until the lens..."squeaks...Then work another area. If you use too much then you get Wax in The Cracks and that's a ....... :nonono: ..If needed a gentle rub with 2000 grit paper on scratches.....USE AT YOUR OWN RISK... :-O

The contact cleaner is what was recommended on here for the contacts...

Also not pictured is my contact dielectric grease I used only on the metal contact for the light.....I use it only on metal connectors........

I wanted to spray the grills but I read the were indeed a Pain to remove so a touch up is in the works.......

Yes the M&m"s make the late night 1:00PM hour zip by.... and Yoda gives plenty of Thumbs up's for support....

You also need plenty of rags......

Oh yeah I forgot teh most important thing ............A Patient Wife.............That's our kitchen table..... :nonono:

Been there, done that. And yeah, it IS a chore. Too bad JVC practically welds the grills in place on the M70 making it almost impossible to repaint those grills without destroying the case to get them out.

I agree.........................But it looks so darn good when you are done.....

And the grill's.....Yeah I agree that was not a bright idea..... :nonono:
