VERY nice job, majestic! :w00t: It is always so rewarding when you can give a new life to a boombox like that. The Force was definitely strong with you during the cleaning job. :ls-duel:

If you want, you can finish off the job with a very light misting of Orange Glo. The chrome will really "pop" out too.

Thanks Guys......Sorry for the bad pics as I cannot find our newer camera...Had to break out O'l trusty to get some shots....1.3 Megapixels old.......... :-O

It was one of those moments when you think" what did I get myself into?".......But when your done you think..."darn I should have also cleaned"......It came out better than I figured. The spots went past the top layer into the color......So if you turn it to the side with bright light and a reflection you can see where they were......But It really does not matter since I'm not into resale. It's for my use So I'm smiling from ear to ear.....I love to restore things........It makes you appreciate when Boxes were made to last...

I will do the orange glow trick.......The more the better. Heck the dust was so thick on the Speakers that I did not really realize how Blue they were.....
I did not pull everything out since I did not want to break fragile pieces that are non replaceable. But the differance is hard to beat....

Thanks FatDog for a great web site that allows others to help out and give us a place to show our Boxes..

Congratulations Majestic! My M-70 was in terribly filthy condition too, I think the M-70 cleans incredibly well, must have a very hardy finish on the plastic.

Hope you get years of enjoyment out of her!

Rock On.

What school did you graduate from FUZZ.........

Yeah Glue....The paint as it came off turned my rag black.....Same as when I polish aluminum.....One heck of a paint job.......

I like the picture where the box is outside, and the speaker surrounds are shining two big halos on the ground! :-D

hey majestic, so what are the tools of the trade? i see eagle one nevr-dull and meguiar's wax, but what got the grease off? the m&m's were just fuel for the job. ;-)

Been there, done that. And yeah, it IS a chore. Too bad JVC practically welds the grills in place on the M70 making it almost impossible to repaint those grills without destroying the case to get them out.

What's up with that, they don't just attach them under the trim ring or use a little glue they freaking welded them together.
