Just been talking to masterblaster about headphones so what did i decide to do

Try the hemiguy m90 on headpones WoW what a suprize the power and bass blows any walkman away that i have heard wich quite frankly i wasnt expecting as i always thought jvc wernt up2 much on headphones with ghettoes BUT the sound is amazing prolly better than the actual speakers.

Maybe its because of the headphones im using cuz they sound great on walkmans too but NOT as good as this.

The headphones are from the early 80's mn technicseha x250 :-)

so whats your box sound like on cans?.....

Haven't tried headphones on most of my boxes however the ones I did try pretty much always sounded very good and that includes a few lower range boxes. Don't listen to headphones on boomboxes often though because it just seems counter to the heart of the boombox. :-D

out of morbid curiosity i just plugged my shure slc5's into my sanyo and they sounded extremely good. Part of it is the monitors themselves im sure but it was surprisingly good for something that wasnt actually designed with headphones in mind.

Don these headphones are amazing the main reason i want the grados is because these cans are made of plastic grrrrr and i want a good quality build as well as sound that equals or supasses these technics cans

I did like the Grado SR-225's but damn their foam was painful. Bought some Yellow Sennheiser foam (old 414's I believe) and it helped but it wasn't perfect.

I'm all for vintage but there werent really any cans back then that could compare to today's in ear monitors. Quality over vintage IMO as far as headphones go. I have a pair of Sony MDR-7509's that my dad used when he was doing sound back in the late 80's which are about as close to my in ears as I have ever heard but the shures still blow them out of the water.

If you want to stay vintage and really care about the quality of sound I would recommend the 7509's over anything else. Hell they still make them and havent really changed them at all since they came out in in the mid 80's. When you get into the consumer cans like the sennheisers or grado's you start to get a really toned out response instead of what you really want, a completely FLAT response. Reference cans or nothing IMHO. If you want it bassy, work your eq.

A truly flat response curve is difficult to find at best and truth is a ruler flat response would sound weak in Bass and Mid Bass since our ears have a tougher time with low frequencies. This is why most tested response curves will show a boosted Bass to mid bass curve. Bose has made a living on boosting the mid-bass to lower treble range because it's the most pleasing at least in the short term, people who aren't really in to hi-fi are initially highly impressed which is why this works for Bose. A truly flat response curve just isn't as exciting but if you know what your listening for it's the mark of excellence.

Dont need to take any resistor out of these cans bro, its only on half way and the m90 is deafoning with superb highs and unbilivable sub bass but thanks for the thought bro

:'-( :'-( alot of boxes sound much much better with cans on em. It may be blasphemy but the sound can be so tight you really hear the quality of the components..
