Yup, I got a golden M70 today :-D :-D :-D .

No no, not the common M71 job... :nonono:

Many doubted its existence, only few have ever surfaced :-D .

I present you: The Victor RC-M70GX

Nice one Max  I would call dibs but I hate 90mhz only tuners

What is a 90mhz only tuner? :hmmm:

Since this was a Japan only boombox, the tuner is designed for the Japanese broadcasting waves which are 76-90 MHz on FM. The rest of the world seems to have 88-108 MHz I think.
Anyway, I can get 3 stations in crystal clear stereo and aside from that, this is a freaking M70GX :w00t:

The radio only goes to 90Mhz.

Japanese FM radio typically only goes from 76Mhz to 90Mhz, the rest of the world goes to 108Mhz. The radio on a Japanese box won't pick up stations who's frequency is above 90Mhz. i.e Q 104FM New York.

The serial number ends with 0180...makes me wonder how many were made :hmmm: My guess is max. 1000 - they are really rare birds.

That one in Japan? It was a complete wreck and still went for 80$. With all fees and shipping, you would have had a POS for big money  .
To be honest - the abused M70GX was the only GX I saw ever since I started watching the Japanese market :dunce:
I don't even wanna know what happens when a mint one like mine turns up for sale :-O

Thanks by the way...I also sometimes stop and find it interesintg/amazing what devotion and passion can lead to  .
Boxes I never dared to dream of owning are now lined up on my wall :-D . I have to say it feels pretty good ;-)

I agree. And, I humbly submit My vote that this GX be added to the top banner of boxes on Boomboxery's page. I think this is worthy.
