I just thought i wouuld bring this discussion up as we all seem to be on about it

For me so far it has to be one of my modded m90's wich i have made way louder than standard on cassette :-)

But i would love to test my new arrival the sharp 939 against it as she seems to be a beast.

As for the footprint of the sound genarated by these to boxes the m90 is my fave at LEAST im pretty sure it is as i havnt had a direct comparo of the 2 yet as i have been using the sharp 939 all night. new toy in da house

so fess up guys cheerz :-)

Regarding the bass footprint of the 939 and the 90 if you set the eq right on the 939 you can get a pretty similar sound as i have just had the 90 on im dying to max the vol on both, but i can't its like 215 am here grrr lol

If those Sony's took batteries and could put out the same amount of sound as they do when plugged in...

theres no possible chance of a sony fh215r running on the battery pack being able to operate as loud as it can plugged into mains.
i mean you couldnt make the power it would need.

the fh7 on its battery pack would most likely not make as much power either.

the robot box is just so freaking loud that it is unreal.
i had two of the things. sold one for a nice chunk of change.
the one i kept i blew the surrounds out of it.
i want to fix it but have no clue how to get the thing apart to do it. i am almost certain the speakers in this boombox are out of pioneeers car audio line from back in the day.
i keep thinking i might pick up some new speakers for it and just figure out how to throw them into it.
its louder than the kaboom by a lot and is missing the bass.

I don't know which is the loudest since you'd probably need an SPL meter to know for sure. Also, do you mean loudest, regardless of sound quality, or do you mean loudest before noticeable distortion sets in?

BUT I do know which one is NOT my loudest on batteries and that would be the Telefunken.

Think the best sound qualtity comes from the big PHILIPS 3piecer.

Maybe the MasterBlaster would be better, if working.... :-/

the panasonic rx series boxes like the
rx 5050
rx 5100
rx 5110
rx 5025
rx 4930
rx 5500
these boxes are and very great for battery life and can crank pretty loud on batteries .

I'd say the M-90 & the JVC-PC55JW & C-now these are ridiculously loud!! My 9994 & 9998 rock real loud to!! :-P

GB you need to ajust the tape pots in your m90 then you will find a pc55 on full tilt is the same as a m90 on half voll and changing the speakers makes a big diff aswell :-)

Hi Tim-Your probably right BUT I haven't had the guts to push it(M-90) past 7.5 on the volume so it's probably the same-the 55's are quite incredible for those small speakers!!
Thanks-GB.
