I actually really adored my J1, Its sound was pretty darn good, it had good bass and killer looks aswell. It was big but not so heavy you couldn't lift it either.

Thanks for the info folks. I like the boxes with a lot of metal and high build quality

Then you want a National RX-7200 or a Sanyo MX920. The National sounds better but is more expensive.

I would say the one that was the most expensive had the best build quality even if it wasn't the best sounding.

The Sanyo 920 is a boombox, but the National RX-7200 is like a home stereo that operates on batteries. And that FLD, oh so sexy!

There are some HUGE radio's out there, but bigger doesn't mean better. The Telefunken Studio 1M has sound quality that will LEVEL almost anything. Runs on batteries, but weighs ALLOT. I'm not saying you can't hit the street with it. But wouldn't be my choice for long walks in the park. :lol:

Of course the JVC M90 is the king of kings, but not as big as the C100. But IMO, the C100 doesn't have the sound quality.

M90= mike Tyson.
C100= Mohammed ali.
I agree. Both iconic boxes. The C100's tend to get muddy on sound when pushed. You can back the bass off and it helps. I have even caught the M70 doing the same although not as bad. Now the M90 well..IDK what they did with the M90's circuitry because it's the only box that just keeps getting better and better the louder you get. I would really like to hear a Telefunken Studio one day.

The m90 has a pure dense loudness that can go all day long . the motherfuker just cranks like it doesn't give a fuk. It holds it together when most boxes turn to crud. Mind you , you have to cut the bass down but you can push this box like no other.

The Telefunken doesn't go as loud as an M90, or even an M70. But it smokes every single other vintage box in terms of pure sound quality.

Yes the Telefunken has parts in the amp section and the speakers that you just don't see in other boxes. These are the real deal just don't challenge an m90 in the streets with one. Plugged in its a different story

That makes sense Reli. Having both M70 and M90, your explanation above definitely puts the Telefunken Studio in perspective for me and gives me an excellent idea of what to expect from it. I appreciate that :-)

I care about quality however, I like to go loud also. I can now see where the Telefunken would lie between the models I currently own.

Honestly, I tend to be a little less mature and usually favor loudness over purity and quality however, IMO the M90 balances this nicely :-)

I love the m90 , it doesn't try to win any beauty contest but its baddassery has a beauty of its own lol. If it was battleship it would be the mighty no , might not be the Bismarck or the yamato but its still a mighty mo .

i found the m90 as loud as the funken on mains, on the street the m90 wins hands down as the funkens power is cut down on batts as it only uses 8 of them

long live the m90
