i think it looks fine the way it is , if anything maybe just a bolder gold color where there no text just to freshen up the looks .be different if you could paint a majority of the box but its limited to the obvious patchwork areas , trust me i know looking at my collection its all patchwork lol .every time i see these patchy pant jobs the just scream i painted around all the hard **** lol.

Good to see them all again!

The ISP definitely needs a paint job. It looks pretty nice in the pictures but I've seen it in person and most of the times and from most angles it looks pretty dull, which is a pity because it performs pretty well!

Maybe black will make the chrome stick out a little more. Something goldish / champagne-ish might work pretty well, while staying rather subtle.

Yeah something like that.........But not glossy at all........More like a faded, primer type of look. Like something that looks aged and weathered. I'm sure there's a blue primer I could find, or maybe a really flat paint.

Gold is another idea too......But it would have to be a really dull gold, not a bling gold. That would be tough.

I like your idea of painting the upper corners too. I'm thinking of continuing it across the top of the tuner as well.

And maybe even use a 2nd color for the tweeter grills, or the tweeters themselves? Like brick red?

The possibilities are endless!

Nice one! Almost pure heliotrope according to the universal RAL chart.
I'd also go with either a very fine scale tartan or even scumble for the highlights, by way of contrast. Imagine these fine lines on the mic grilles or even the speaker frets done that way.
Maybe someone more proficient than I in the use of Gimp could fake that up?
