Many of the Sharp GF-9X9X boxes only have a phon-in. To step down that phono signal for using a stanard line-in, you need a cheap device called a phono-annenuator.
If you are in the USA, here is one that I picked up and works great. It costs less than $10, from reputable seller MCM Electronics.
