Just dug out the Sharp 8989 for a blast.
Playing a TDK MA90 of the vinyl LP recording of Genesis 'Trick Of The Tail'.

Noticed since last time I used it the rewind has gone all sluggish :annoyed:

Still got that lovely 8989 'sparkle' to the sound though :-)

Hi=That's cool becuase I had my GF-8989II out up at my brothers cabin in Minnesota over the week last week and on an outside excursion on a hike to my old boombox listening party ares in Minnesota-now that was cool. :-P
I cleaned it up a little extra nice and it's so cool sounding-just incredible for it's size-new Duracells to.
Have a great one-GB. :-) :-D

Took a hint, and pulled out my bronze GF-8989HB for a listen to the radio while I worked outside on Memorial Day. Very nice all-around depth and precision ("sparkle" is a great word!) in sound that carried beautifully across the yard. Good decision, if I do say so myself. Thanks, GB and 2S, for the right idea!

Just noticed that you can't tell if the LED's work when the unit is outside in the sunshine... so I brought it inside for another photo. They work.

I really like the LED's on those 8989's - even though they're just a simple line they have a real 'cool factor' attached.

There's a Hitachi with a similar led layout in the same place, a 7 series I think that looks really good.

Sharp really got it bang on with the design for a mid-sized box, really agreeable styling and flash without being OTT.

Hi BoomShaka Laka-That is a killer 8989!!
Where did you find such a rare model??
I didn't even know they made a HB model and at 28 watts that's just insane.
I'll bet it rocks-dou you want to sell it??
I'm looking for a mint 8989II or one of these.
I'm just so surprised that it almost has twice the wattage of a normal 8989 which is 15 watts and mine cranks!!
Let me know as this must be a rare model.
Thanks-GB. :-)
