The junk shop Sanyo I found last year. The deck does work but sluggishly.
Plays well on line-in.

I visited a friend whos working at a recycling center and found something that was something at one time. Elta 6440. I have not found anything on the internet about it, may be worthless, anyway I took it home because I thought I could use some buttons or other pieces. I put it in the socket and surprise, started, catch the radio even with the broken antenna and has an interesting VU meter on the right side that works depending on how much volume you get from its volume button and not how strong the input source is .

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ I've acquired a couple of low end boxes without speakers such as the one in the above image, once you've determined the output specifications you should be able to match a pair of decent speakers with the main unit for a pretty good sound - or you could just enjoy the box through headphones.

You're right MyOhMy. I did this with my GE for 10 years before I was able to find the original speakers. It actually sounded better with a few of the bookshelf speakers I used it with for many years.

Me too! I've done this several times when I wanted, needed or desired a small/mini/shelf Hi-Fi to fill a particular space, when there are no speakers the unit can be very inexpensive but sound absolutely brilliant with decent speakers. All I look for is the media handling, specification and,of course...........................(Ta-Da).................................a bargain price! :-D

Sunday evening, outdoors BBQing to some tunes from my favourite Sharp - the GF-9090 cranking a bunch of old home brew tapes I haven’t seen for 30 years!

And my 30 year old (almost) Staffy.......... 02F3F97C-CE6D-4338-9866-BA33EE5A7755.jpeg15D4A2AC-20ED-4C74-A53D-3773E1066D2A.jpeg1E707C6C-AA68-4269-9B66-680D82B6AF9C.jpeg85A0923A-2946-4A8C-AE4A-CE172F8B1A5C.jpeg

Don’t find many in the wild and it does have a little character.

Just picked up this lovely Crown from eBay. Tape deck runs a bit slow but otherwise fine.

Nice box, is that the one from the seller on the Gold Coast, QLD??

The Crown boxes are easy to work on. Just lube the deck, do the belts, clean the head etc + contact clean/lube the controls and record bar and you should be good to go!
