You are right MyOhMy about more lights... but what makes it special is mostly the mod I performed on it changing the speakers for some higher end Paradigm.
It just sounds so good now.
Damn, nice metal plate around those speakers! Did you add that?
Thanks Reli!!
Yes I did and had to... the Paradigm speakers smaler in size, compared to the original C300 speakers, made it a chalenge to fit the original speaker grills. So, I design the aluminum plates to match the speaker position and the front grills attachements and had them lazer cut. Screwed the plates on, and built up the Paradigm box to match the size of the original speakers. Very happy with the result.

Yes, indeed: between November 20, 2018 and December 3, 2018, the member hardmen over in Brazil (or “Brasil”?) has shared images of some fetching portable stereos.

There is the National Panasonic RX-5350. That was cranked up November 20.

Then there was the November 29 feature, that Conion. (Whatever its model number. Oh, and did it get hit by a pea-shooter? :-D).

There was also the November 30 feature. As I suspected, it's a Toshiba RT-S913. I think I remember that a mint condition '913 was bidden up to over $2,300 on eBay some years ago. (Offered from the UK, I think; auction was stopped, though.)

And the December 3rd feature was that Crown CSC-970 with its tasteful blend of "champagne" and beige in the colour of its façade.

All four of those 'boxes seem delightful, though one would have to nod the most happily at the '5350 and the '913. That National Panasonic model and that BomBeat 40 are that much more engaging in design (without even the Toshiba overdoing it with all that speaker- and tweeter-encircling chrome), in robust looks (the '5350 simply seems boomingly party-ready) and in DX'ing potential: they all tune shortwave, but those three SW bands of the Toshiba should pick up something other than static or a solitary evangelical broadcaster. (And one hopes their tape decks work, too. I mean, without the tape-deck keys being depressed, one might become depressed to find out that those tape decks can only pose ...)

And, of course, Nick Eccles has a pleasingly uncluttered Silver SR-8800L that look fit for a corporate executive's office shelf while sounding amazing. (Uh, are the speakers the original ones? :-D)

Thanks for sharing, folks.

So nostalgic for me is the D-8614 & out of my reach in 1982!

Am always eager to plug this one in & enjoy my latest recordings with sound quality that these produce & a very stable cassette deck that really shouldn't play back as good as it does

Yep a working 8614 is a pleasure to own & listen to - This was earlier this evening as I was lining up some repair jobs that I can't get in the right mood to tackle right now - But with belts & other sundries now here, I really must get repairing & restoring soon!!

That 7200 is not only beautiful but also iconic - A true stalwart of the golden age, sheer quality with build quality to die for...........

It certainly is interestingly different. ('Smatter of fact, the same or similar Sanyo caught my eye several days ago on eBay.) We see the compact disc (CD) player at work, spinning some purple-looking CD. (A club/dance compilation, perhaps?) Will the tape deck start pleasing listeners next?
