In spite of spending most of last week fixing someone else's hastily purchased eBay example, I still have much respect for the compact heavyweight that is my dear old GF555, so tonight I've been listening to some Joni Mitchell on that box and remembering that it can sound pretty decent when it's not being asked to do something delicately.

Maybe it's all of the thick metal in the plates that make up its cassette decks, maybe it's the ten D cells in the bottom, maybe it's the 3-way Sony car speakers where the woofers used to live, but this thing's about the same weight as me  :

I always was a sucker for a lost cause. :-D

...and see if I try to get it out of that armchair, well I'd sooner fight a pit bull for territory than argue with the 555, the big old hard case that it is.

Got some B.B. King going on the M9990 in the kitchen this morning, now that I've stocked up on D's. As bad as this picture is, I think it sort of speaks to the low end at medium volume on this box.

Hey Bill, I tried getting it lose but it won't budge. figured I'll tackle it another time, before either I break it or drive myself crazy trying to loosen it up :nugget:

Giving my son's Lasonic i931 a good work out at my other son's 6th birthday party. Kids like their music loud & the parents thought it was extremely cool :-)
