Were Crowns ever sold in North America?

Ha ha, that's legit. They really did a good job styling the back of that box. The circle makes it seem like the woofer was so big it needed more space, and the big slanted indentations on each end try to look like bass ports on a sub box

these back case panels are very strong and very hard to break. I had to sweat every time I made a cut because if I f***** up I f***** up two boxes. even the front grills are removable.

I think it was "Zayre?" Ours turned into "Zody" but didn't last long after that.

Definately sold in the USA, all of mine have a UL Sticker on the back. Here's another old thread with more pages of information...
There's an ad from USA Rolling Stone Magazine with a bunch of Crown's Listed.

This is from 1973 in a USA Magazine, while the Crown CSC-505FW from this era (one of the biggest baddest Crown Boomboxes) isn't listed, the boombox does have an "FCC" license sticker on it.

One of the bigger issues is that there was already a Crown USA Audio Company from Indiana, I'm pretty sure there were a lot of trademark infringement lawsuits between the two so there might have been some import issues as well.

How about the Crown Calculator Boomboxes?
