Seems like the vast majority of Crowns that you find on Ebay are in Europe.
Does anyone remember seeing them in US or Canadian stores back in the day?

i bought a crown sz 5100 new in the USA , now that's the only crown model that I ever saw for sale in the store .
that is the kinda box i need now lad, they were lighter than my underpants lol, despite that i found they had a better sound than the sharp gf 9000

definitely more powerful than the gf9000. for as cheap as these things were new you can't complain. I remember these things when they were on sale being anywhere from 99 to $129 , those were the days where you could walk into a department store and see all the things that you wish you had now.

yes it was a store named "gee bees" it was a store kind of like Kmart and it was located in Francis Scott key Mall in Frederick Maryland. I can't remember the exact year I bought it but I know it was somewhere around 85or 86. the only reason I bought it to begin with because I had pawned my TRC 931 for some dumb reason. then I had to buy the crown to replace it because it was cheaper than the TRC 931. the TRC 931 that I first got for Christmas came from that store and so did the Magnavox d8443 power player.

Thanks, I remember those stores in PA
Did you audition the Magnavox before buying it? If not, I bet you were disappointed when you got home

actually my older brother already had a Magnavox g8443 I always thought it was a cool looking boombox that's why I wanted one. I knew exactly what I was getting but I was too poor to afford anything else at the time.

I don’t know if Crowns were sold in big numbers or not in the US but they were definitely not sold in Japan even if they were manufactured there. I remember Geoff Nikonfoo telling me that and saying there were several Crown models on his wish list.

Hell yeah, the CEC is a good sounding box! Mine only had 2 speakers yet it sounded better than a 5-speaker Magnavox for sure
