.....and its broke....in many places. so frustrated and discouraged right now...cant even take pictures to post yet. where to begin.

i knew: both tape decks didnt work, cassette holder doesnt stay closed, and it has one foot that is partially broke in the back........all things i could fix or live with.

things i wasnt expecting: damaged during shipping (my second of three grails dds). one rear casing screw post busted but fixable. one front casing screw post sleeve/guide? busted (top and bottom same side). tape 1 door broke (little nub on right side of front panel, not actual door. maybe more than that...nothing to compare it to). treble, bass, balance and mixing level knobs all cracked on the inside so they dont stay on. and there is a residue inside the box which i cannot identify. and it smells of cat urine or mold or something. inside very dirty but cleanable.

the good news.......it sounds awesome, vu meters work perfectly, top leds work (cassette led-one works but tape doesnt so who knows on the rest of the leds), alarm works, speakers appear to be in good shape.

i overpaid to begin with because right now i can afford to spend a little more for something i want really bad. i know you guys look down on that but i wont be in this fortunate situation very long. i'll save the huntin and searchin for the rest of my life. i want my grails now!!! he had a high "buy it now", i made an offer....he accepted

dealing with the seller now. i want 70% of my money back from him or the shipping company....dont care who. just worked 14 hours and im tired and frustrated. just needed to vent a little.

what do you guys think a 7980 is worth? i know its worth what someone is willing to pay for it but a range would be nice to hear from the braintrust. from fair up to mint?

why does this happen to me!?!?! goin to bed. thank god my m90 is minty, the only thing keepin me sane right now.

Well, you do understand that the mechanism eBay has as far as buyer protection goes is for a return of the item. So before you go and put too much work/money into the radio, that you settle the issue first. The seller does not have to settle with you. He can refund your money and take the boombox back. Asking for 70% of your money back means the seller has minimal reason (30%) not to take the item back and refund your purchase price. Hopefully, he will settle with you but just understand that if he refuses, you need to return the boombox.

I would go through ebay and get 100% of your money back. I was recently in a very similar situation and that is what I did. It was a long haul, and the seller resisted, but it was the right thing to do.

What ever you decide to do, good luck mate. There's nothing more disappointing than getting a trashed boomer in the mail

If you do hold onto it there's plenty of help and spare parts on here :-)

yes you always run that risk and i belive all of have been there a few times,, it happens to the best of us.. sometimes you deal with it fix it little by little or just send her back.. the problem is that most people do not relize that big boxes like the conion need to be packed very well but at the same token ive seen very well packed boxes that still get bashed anyway :sadno: good luck....

I hate to hear stories like this one.
I would say if you paid over 400.00 get your money back.
Due to the fact that it sounds like the radio was
not in good shape to begin with regardless of the shipping damage.

And it smells like cat urine???

more than likely im gonna take the buyer protection route if it comes down to it. regardless, its goin back.

its just gonna be really hard to package this baby up and send her off. it has its problems and i paid way to much for what i ended up getting, but damn this thing is loud!!! i feel like i got a lamborghini thats all smashed to hell but still does 0-60 in 4 seconds flat. i just hope i can find another one!!!
