Well, hello to all my fellow boombox enthusiasts from Texas!

I'm recently retired from the U.S. Navy.

20 years & 8 months of service.

Otherwise, I'm just a regular 80's baby (now a grumpy 40-year old) who appreciates the boomboxes of old & waits for the day that somebody makes a modern boombox (preferably with cassette & CD) that isn't black (or silver-painted) plastic crap.

Right now, the only boombox in my stable is a new Studebaker Sound Station (SB2140) in silver. Go ahead and laugh.20210921_145221.jpg

Have look at this old thread and see if any of these earn the tacky vulgar label from you.

Well, the box of the clear GPX wins that label...Begrudgingly.

I also have to give it to the Philips, unless it can actually roll...Which I suspect it can't.

And the Nickelodeon was built that way from the outset, but nothing less is expected from anything with the Nickelodeon brand.

Wow, I haven't seen this before. I rarely visit the big stores like Walmart and Best Buy. Is that where you got it from?

If memory serves me, I bought it online from HSN. They had the best price at the time (~$179.99, IIRC), when everyone else (including Amazon!) was $200+...And usually out of stock.

First time I'd ever bought anything from HSN.

Of course, being a Studebaker product and their "Reputation", I sprang for the extended warranty...Something I rarely ever do.

Welcome! That’s one ugly beast lol. Not that all vintage ones are beautiful and new ones ugly. There are loads of very ugly ones from back in the day.
I often love the tacky/vulgar ones but not that one. Need to buy more! :-)
