Vz300 playing slow and dragging on on A side

I have a VZ3000 that I have just put a new belt on. It was working fine for a while now when I tried a 45rpm single it plays spot on the B side but the A side is constantly slowing down and barely moving then it speeds up and slows again.
Please can anyone help with this this as I am totally stumped?

Could be the motor or the supply regulator sometimes its internal to the motor. hook up a voltmeter to the terminals of the motor and replicate the problem and monitor the voltage. If its stable I suggest rebuilding or replacing the motor.
