My Big Ben was fully working and all on a sudden the cassette section ceased to function. I took a peek and found the belts are fine and the main belt didn't slip off the flywheel.
Then I went and turned the flywheel, and found play works fine until I switch it off.
While moving the box sideways I found 1.5 cm long thin Bakelite piece at the bottom of the box. I remember these types on top of leaf switches where mechanical buttons makes contact to activate the switch. Now this could be a part from the leaf switch. Without this piece the switch will not get pressed enough to make a contact.
I went through the manual and located several leaf switches. Norm also suggested this could be due to a failure of the trigger switch that activates the motor when you press any of the tape functions.
I could locate the trigger switch M6 from the diagram but like to have a good idea on locating the position of it before I take the box apart. To me it looks like is on the left top corner of the deck mechanism when you look from the front.
I have never worked on the deck on Big Ben. As I know it is a complicated box and like to know more background information and advice before I start working on it.
I couldn't find any pictures of working on a Big Ben deck.
A picture is worth a thousand words!
I love to see some pictures also on removing the deck and all.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
