ira i currently have a small rotel 820a that i am using to drive two small b&w monitor speakers.
the amp puts out only 20 wpc and the speakers are rated for up to 150 watts.
they are the solid monitors b&w put out.
i tell you man the sound quality from these components with a decent single disc player is fantastic.
these tiny speakers with this nice little amp continue to amaze me.
while this rotel is not super laden with features i think if you can get one for less than a hundred bucks you should do it.
despite its small in watts it can make some excellent and quite loud sound.
its fantastic for listening to jazz or other types of music. really really good sound.
the monitors look like this mine are white tho. they were super expensive in there day but i got them mint for so cheap.

http://media.photobucket.com/image/rock ... olid-1.gif they have little feet on them and well
they can be mounted on a wall if you desire. they also have pivotal stands on them so you can position them how you like.
they also take up such a small amount of space but have such a great sound.
i also used my rotel amp to drive a pair of klipsch 1.5s as well. those also sounded great driven by the little cheap rotel.
its not a monster of a amp but it is really good sounding for cheap usually.
you can get some info on it here.
i have a friend who has the classic nad of the same era and he has tried to trade me a couple of times but i just cant let the little rotel go.
one day i do hope to actually have a place where i can set all this crap up.
the little rotel still gets used here tho daily.

hey oldy -- was hoping you might NEVER see this thread :-D

as the cherished CP-7 was involved :nonono: :'-( :-)

but -- from my METAL ROOF hut --and 60 miles north of EVERY
cool miami station --
NONE of my digital tuners can compete with the analogues

however -- digital is MUCH MUCH cleaner, stronger and LOCKS
in FM stereo from within 30 miles--
for those stations -- analague is like cave man technology

so THATS alot of 'the story'
:-) :-)

That's fine Ira. You need to go with what works for you I say as long as it's legal. The Rotel is a good box and rare to boot. Plus, analog tuners do have advantages over digitals.

for another matter -- semi-related to this thread --
does anyone like the cool rotel nite lite ??
=============

here are a few lite links :-D
it seems that australia must be the 'big cheese' for these --
there are several sellers from 'down there' who deal in them --

the price is great --but the s/h is TWICE that-
anyhow -- the grand total of 30 bucks would sure make a nice
gift for whatever our favorite brands are==

EVEN SANSUI !!! look:::::::::::

I think they look pretty cool in the picture and considered getting one a while back. I kind of felt it would likely be a waste of $30 because I would only use it a few times then it would end up stored in a box in the garage.

:agree:
if its just a few quick flip-ons :-)
-and on to the garage--
its a rip :nonono:

but --if we use them as part of our box displays = $$Score   :w00t:

that was a good read. congrats to you both for pulling off one hell of a trade! miguel really is one in a million and you can never go wrong getting a box from him. he lets you know every flaw (if there are any) and it's all well taken care of.

ira's on another level though. i mean his boomers have their own casa and he tucks them in with blankets of bubble wrap. if only i could find something he wants...such odd taste with his 3 pieces lol!

Ira is right trading boomboxes here among members is so much, Bmoney thank u, It is true I mention any flaw if there is any, I just want everyone to buy or trade with confident that everyone will get a fair buy or trade from me without surprises and very well packed :-D . I also did a trade with another great member we traded my Panasonic RX-7700 for his MarantzCRS-8000, And we both were very happy with each others trade :-D . Now who would trade with me next :w00t: .

I think it's really classy to dress up a room full of boomboxes with a store display light for a favorite brand. I wonder how many of us "accessorize" our boomboxes with lights, signs, and other promotional trinkets. Maybe someday someone should start a thread showing off their boombox display accessories.

Mine include a lighted Philps stereo sign, a Panasonic lamp, a Grundig globe, a Hitachi toy truck, a JVC ashtray, and Nipper "His Master's Voice" dogs of all sizes. Sure it's clutter, but it really dresses up a shelf full o' boxes!

Here's my opinion on trades (like anybody asked for it): Trades are smart! As I've mentioned to Ira before, when I've sold, say, some of my LP's, I've ended up frittering away the money I received on bills, trips to McDonald's, gas for the car, and hookers. (Well, almost.) A few weeks after I sell, the records are gone and so is the money. I end up with nothing. But when I trade, I pass on stuff that no longer interests me, and I get new and exciting stuff to hang onto. It's a "win-win" situation, as they say.

That's a really lovely radio there Ira, I can only imagine how great it sounds.

I used to have a 70s vintage Rotel receiver, to this day it created the warmest sound I've heard in any of my audio equipment, it even managed to make very ordinary speakers sound very special.

I can but dream of how the Rotel-magic sounds through that portable!

Rock On.
