I have been very lucky with some of my local finds
and today was no exception!
There has been some talk about everyones local electrical recycle centre
and mine is like most. I went there when it was first opened about 2 or so
years ago and was given the same story that most of us get, "sorry, cant sell stuff"
"cant put equipment aside for people, it all has to got to scrap" :annoyed:
I didnt give up straight away, i did pursue it for a while but it was always the same
story no matter who i talked to.
In the end it did just get too hard
So i had not given the place any thought for a long time, but today i had a clean out
at home and had some old electrical gear to drop off there.
I still hadnt thought alot about it even on the way there, but when i drove into
the area where you drop off all electrical equipment i spotted it straight away
On top of some tv's was a cardboard box with the National brand written on it.
I just knew from the print and the style and size of the box this was (a) from the 80's
and (b) was very likely a boombox box!
I drove right up next to it and jumped out before anyone had a chance to come over.
No freekin way !! I couldnt believe it ! I picked it up without even checking and put it
straight in my car and was gone before anyone could see me
I drove straight home to check out what was in the box !
It was packed up like it was new !
All the orginal foam inserts and some paper work ( no user manual but)
and my last picture that looks like a sticker is actualy a cardboard standee that
has a small fold out stand on the back for display purposes i guess but it has
never bee used.
Boy was i excited ! I wasnt even searching for boomboxes today and i still was
lucky enough to find this !
Good news... its in excellent condition and fully working including the cassette drive !
Bad news.... perhaps you tech guys out there can tell me but sounds like the amp
section may be gone ?? Sounds like the speakers are shot but they are not because
i tried running other speakers and it still sounds the same, so it must have something
to do with the units output ??
Finding someone to fix my boomboxes has become almost impossible so i will probably
give this one a good clean, pack it back up in its box and store it away with my other boxed units.
Sorry about the rushed pictures but i was excited to share with you guys
Thanks for having a look !
