Somewhere in Joe's initial thread, he had posted a video showing it working and the noise it was making. Motoboating usualy sounds like a low level oscillation..... like uh.uh.uh.uh.uh.uh.uh.uh.......... but the pitch can change and be higher or lower depending.
Rofl. I can't tell if this is supposed to be funny, but it is.

It is great he was able to save this panny. Beautiful machine.

I was kind of over trying to have one when I sent it off to him. I figured it just wasn't meant to be and maybe the cosmetic parts could help someone else.

After checking a lot to see what other 5350's are around and how many have even come up for sale I knew that I could be in WAY over my head if I had to buy a working unit...... then it went into rescue mode to do everything we could for mine. I pushed Norm to keep at it and am so happy he did.

If you get a chance to grab one of these, do it. It doesn't have the M90 hype but it does have the M90 sound usually for less (pros and cons of each). Just know in the future your caps might need to be replaced, the power switch might break, or your printed traces/resistors could deteriorate.

Mine probably has the worst board seen in a 5350 and it was still able to be brought back from the dead, so know there is hope for just about all of them. Even if you find a dead beater, buy it - the parts could help someone.

Actually Joe, aside from degraded traces, yours has less wear and tear than many 5350's. Even your power switch was pristine. That's less affected by environment and more representative of use cycles. Did this come from FL or something? Anyhow, if you want to "wash" the boards to arrest the corrosives and recoat the top surface to protect, I don't see any more degrading of the boards for a long time to come.

Actually Mason, Ohio from this guy http://www.ebay.com/usr/caseyscloset07

He got it from a friend years ago stating there was something wrong with it. He never made the time to check it out or try to fix it (or he did and was as lost as I was and never told me). I have no idea how long it sat before he finally sold it to me but it really didn't look like it was used much or moved around at all.

I wasn't going to open this back up because I'm tired of seeing it tore apart, but the case has a nasty rattle by the left speaker and this thing is screaming for LEDs in the tuner and VUs. Maybe I will go in and wash and seal the board too.

Ohio gets really humid in the summer right? It's better than FL since it doesn't have the salt element, but If it was in a humid environment and didn't get much free airflow (for example, stuff stacked on top and around it), and wasn't stored inside in the AC'd living area, that could explain it. There are many 5350's around that don't have the corossion issue so it's not so much age as environmental. Just make sure to keep it in a conditioned environment from now on and it should last a good long time.

As for the rattle, if you are playing it like it's a kaboom at soccer practice, then yeah, you might wanna go in with a handful of zip ties and make sure all those wires are secured best they can. and all the screws are tight.

I think the onset of corrosion was from a battery acid leak in mine, its the only way to explain this kind of spilled looking damage on the boards and on the copper plate below the board.

It will be in a nice crisp dry place, so that's good news that it will probably be OK from now on.

This is in my top 5, unreal the amount of power it projects out the front. Love it. Thank you thank you thank you.

I am so happy reading threads like this.
You now have a practically brand new 5350!!!
And these boxes are well worth the effort in repairing!!
They sound great and are hella loud!!!
I also love the ambience effect on this box, on certain songs it sounds
Wonderful.
I sold mine a few years back to a member.
I do miss it from time to time, but glad it went to a fellow enthusiast.
Great work you guys!!! You are both part of what makes this hobby so enjoyable
and this site such a great place to be!!!
Kudos
