I have to admit, I haven't been tinkering for very long.
I've learned alot though in the time that I have.
So what is a heat sink, a way to mount the amp so that it properly cools?

Cheers OSS :afro:

On the Sanyo M-X920 the heat sink in the following photo is the aluminum box. The black finned contraptions are also heatsinks which have been added to give additional capacity. The amp chip/modules are coupled to the aluminum box with heat sink compound to more effectively transfer the heat. So, in a nutshell, YES, a heatsink is a way to draw heat away from the amp module and allow it to operate without disintegrating. Except for very low powered amps, almost all classic amps require heat sinking.

But I suspect you are pulling my leg and you are well aware of what a heat sink is.. ;-)

Old School Scott, what size speakers were those JVC's that you tried putting in there, 6 1/2 ? 6? That box looks killer man!

Beautiful job. I just got one of these and was curious what you ended up doing with the tweeters?
Also, did you just wire up that third speaker as a center channel? (and what size is it)

Cheers!

Nice job, but I would have left the graphic above the cassette deck unpainted, the bit that says AMSS and 4 SPEAKER.

Bloody excellent!! I've got one of these of thinking of customising, but it's so mint I can't bear to just yet.

Top work, OSS!! They're a great little box for sure, and yours is defnintely now best of them all.

Rock On.
