So I'm going to make a project out of this one in attempts to improve it's sound and looks.
It has fake tweeter slices, honestly I don't know why manufacturers bothered to solder slices of metal and wire them to the speakers.
It comes apart nicely though.
Another speaker improves the sound, but I need to find a place to put it.

Looks good! :-D

Based on your previous musings on this site, I'd gather that the bathing portion excited you the most?!? :-P :w00t:

Nice work so far!

if you run into issues with your restore and need parts, let me know. I have a beater 9935 I can sell at a reasonable price,

if you could find some tweeters that are shallow enough to mount in the bar that goes across the woofers and epoxy them onto the back of those holes in the bars and run the wires glued to the back of the bars so you can't see them i think that would work ,or just find some coaxial car speakers.

Interesting. So your thinking of tweeters inside the grills like the style of the sony cfs-66 and cfs-77? Since the bar goes fully across the woofer unlike the sonys, perhaps 2 tweeters would look the best, 2 per side(one on each side of the center-along the bar), which would keep a balanced look.

exactly i don't think those woofers have a lot of excursion so mounting larger tweeters behind the woofer grills might give maximum results unless you can find a coaxial speaker that fits in it.

Well I'm done with the painting and big surprise, I painted it black.
Painting a box black is not always the answer, but once again in this case it was.
It really made the chrome bits pop.
I added these whompin' JVC car speakers and it worked, but the vibration proved to be too much for the box.
Too bad, it would have looked badd *ss.

Then I added a bigger amp and a third speaker in the middle.
Sounds presentable but it squawks like a baby ostrich still if you turn it past 5.

Dang! That is nice, OSS. I might try something like that with my 9935.

Which amp did you put in?

The amps must be hiding. Because I don't even see a heat sink. Unless it's the IC near the headphone jack. But if it is, it can't be very powerful because once again, it isn't even sinked.

I like that industrial black look.

I have to admit, I haven't been tinkering for very long.
I've learned alot though in the time that I have.
So what is a heat sink, a way to mount the amp so that it properly cools?
