I don't like boxes where the speakers are angled slightly away from each other, trying to create a surround effect.
It makes the box look like someone took it and bent it over their knee
I prefer both of the speakers to be pointing straight ahead, so I can take it and put it right in front of my face and blast it and get the full effect

EMERSON, YORX, COBY, MAGNAVOX and ANY radio with TONE control only instead of separate BASS & TREBLE and that big radio that Lasonic TRC-920 had to put those 8' inch woofers in due to the lack of bass! Some radios are just big for nothing!! Oh and IMO I think I have one of the nicest SONY's. And for the record I have yet to meet a LASONIC that didn't have great BASS!! My L30 kicks ass!!

I'm not a huge fan of any of the really flimsy boxes . Lloyd's has to go on the list. I really prefer the portable stereos from the early age when they were expensive heavy and well constructed.

I mean almost all makers produced gems and crap. Once the early years were over and the portable stereo caught on most makers just decided to sell crap. Sanyo is a excellent example of a Boombox maker that produced some of the best and some of the worst. Lloyd's on the other hand just sold poop.

Candle is another stinker . I have one of thier boxes. Looks dead on to one of the early panasonics but sounds like two skeletons doing the wild thing on a metal roof

Hey Roman, I never owned one but I really like the look of some of those normende globemaster SW radios -- especially the ones with the big wrap around tuner dials.. Are you saying they are junk?

Think this is the same problem like CROWN

They made some really solid and good looking boxes.
And they also made worlds last crap...

For me I dont like lloyds, Crown, Unisef, GPX, Coby, Embassy, They all sounds like KaKa. Embassy have made some gorgeous boxes as well as Crown and Unisef, But sound wise are b ad.

I think I'd have to add mitsubushi to the list as well. Despite having that crazy multicasette loader I have never come across anything good by them.

the one model of box i never liked no matter how good it is , is the jvc kaboom . this box is hideous looking and i see no benefit to owning one . i had one but it was more fun to smash than it was to use .

I hate the Kaboom with a passion!! Other than the bass, I can't understand the appeal...
The fact that people actually show 'em off like they're proud to own 'em amazes me!

Other than those, I don't like those damn Bizzaro World upside-down Panasonic boxes!

Also no fan of 3 big speaker/woofer boxes like the Aiwa 880 and Magnavox!
