Back in 2019 Boomboxery member Katsa made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a JVC-M90. He packed it up, shipped it to me when I was living in Italy and I went straight to work cleaning it up and servicing it. At the time I posted a thread 10 YEARS IN THE MAKING. With the help of many members, especially DOCS, I managed to get the deck working. But sadly, it was only temporary. Since then, I moved back to the USA and thought about how I might get this thing working again. I knew it was never 100% after I got the deck working last time, so I wasn't totally shocked when it stopped. I kind of figured there was something in the deck, separate from the issues that I did fix that made it work. What that problem was, I couldn't figure out. But I felt if I repeated what I had previously done (which was a ton of work) that the deck would most likely fail again. I tried to reach out to a repairman I've been working with for around 15 years, but his business shut down. But after a few months of investigative work, I found his new number, reached out and found he indeed shut the doors on his store front, but was still interested in doing repair work. I took him the M90 and a few weeks later, I received it back. About 10 years ago I had him repair the deck on my Clarertone 7979 and it has been an absolute work horse since then, with all features 100% working and the speed perfectly dialed in. I can now say, after 16+ years collecting, I have a fully functional M90 and she is a peach. Thanks again to everyone who contributed one way or another to make this happen.
