Sansui FX-500 = Heavenly Grail

sorta agree ( soundwise and rare-wise )

except --when we watched that mini on ebay all week --nobody ever heard of it --or posted about it -
so nobody ever WANTED IT --
and i think it sold with only1 or 2 lame bids -- for peanuts

so --its really//mostly a ' personal grail '

right ?

Until others hear it. Don't worry though, Ira. Since Freddie is MIA - again - your chances of owning the only Sansui FX-500 known to exist are increasing.

A grail could be either a single persons want/need or just as a slew of collectors point of view. Just as Chris said what might be a grail to one person might not be to another. Like I believe my CEC is a personal Grail for me but not for others.... But in the same token I believe most collectors, not all, but most think the Conion C100, JVC M70, JVC M90, Lasonic TRC931, Vela Discolite are all Grails and a must have for a collection All of these but the M70 have been used in marketing throughout all the years and that's probably the biggest reason for them being considered Grails

I also feel that when someone makes a radio their personal grail that it spurs interest from others so they see it in a "Grail" type light.

I would have NEVER bought an M70 with out all the super praise given by all you members and you were RIGHT! To me....Now it's one of my Grails
