What a bloke you are Glue, I'd struggle to part with any of my boxes. My only concern is that there doesn't seem to be enough decent boomboxes here in .au and you're introducing another collector!!!! Only kidding :-) Nice work mate...........

Amazing Glue, shows your true character.

I think you gave this to your buddy, not just for his friendship. But because you actually found someone who loves boomboxes as much you/we do :-)

Rick that brought tears to my eyes. :'-(

I think you cemented a friendship there and ignited a flame that could ruin his marriage.

How the hell did I miss this??!

That's an amazing story, Rick! :w00t: What a genuinely great, generous bloke you are! The GF-9000 is an amazing looking box, and it must be real hard letting one go for the last time. That said, it was very good of you to give it to your friend as a present. I'm sure he knows how much you adore your radios and look after them so well. You're the kind of person anyone would love to be friends with. And thank you so much for the mention! I used to love our PM chats, we must start that again! I'm really glad I know you on these forums, genuinely. As another member said, thanks for such a heart-warming story!

Hey Glue,

Any update on this story?

I was just wondering if you have hung out with your friend since he got his new box and if there has been any feed back.

Will he be joining us in the boom room any time soon?

Royston's been working the 9000 like a true champion!
He's getting a strap organised for her so we've been discussing options for that.
It's become his gardening companion at home too. As well as being used every
night to listen to before he goes to sleep.

He's really loving her, which is so awesome.

Unfortunately he has zero pc experience and is not really interested to learn
so we won't be seeing him on here any time soon unfortunately, which is a shame.

But, he may want to learn eventually, he knows 85% of mine have come from the interent
one way or another, so we'll see how long it takes for his spirit to break looking exclusively
for them in the wild down here. Never know, he might have much more luck in the wild than
I have had!!

Was pretty funny yesterday, was chatting to him and his wife and she mentioned she was going to
a new market on sunday, as per usual I piped up with 'If you see any radios, you know what to do!'
Immediately Royston cut me off with 'Yeah, give them to me! If there's any I don't want I'll be sure
to give you first option to trade'.

It's awesome having another collector local, hopefully he'll get well into it and keep the boombox dream
alive for many years to come.

Rock On.

Man that's great to hear! Glad he didn't just put it up on a shelf, he's really rocken it! I also do allot of gardening with my radios. If I'm on one side of the house, I'll put it in the shade and pump it up proud!

Of course now you have competition to find what is local. But it sounds like good healthy fun!

I have a few radio's I've been scoping out from some members, they need some work, a good cleaning, but the price is right and I might hook one up for a buddy of mine. He has ZERO cassettes but a Massive mp3 collections, so if the deck doesn't work but has a line in, he won't be butt hurt over it! I would like to find him something that is a decent performer though. Everyone likes to get up and jockey the volume knob!

I will surely let you know if it happens!

That guy must be walking on air

The GF-9000 is a great box and to receive one as a gift would surely be an overwhelming moment ..... :w00t:

Oh, and great choice with Garnet (RIP) such a loss for Reggae when he died so young and such an amazing talent...

Rick, you are the essence of all that is great in Boomboxery.

Respect to you brother for this selfless act in an otherwise selfish world.
