When it comes to boomers, we collect first out of love for these creatues...BUT...

There are some where we have great expectations...and get low results. For me it's the JVC PC-11. This box should have it all based on what it's equipped with...or so you'd think.

I have one and will keep it nontheless because I still like it, and I can always show it with it's Vector VMC-100 twin which sounds waaaayyyy better. You see what I mean when first looking at it.

Flashy emersons are always bad

I would still enjoy the JVC though-Looks great! There is a mint PC 5 (thonk that's the model) at a local pawn for $75 but the sticker is on the face of it so I passed :-/ :-/

agree -- your 11 sure looks like it should sound great---

the most notorious - is the giant 10 inch 550-

it should sound scary :-O

but , instead --all it can do well--is sit on my porch
and broadcast AM radio talk shows ----LOUD !!!!!!!!  :-D

This Toshiba was in no way a let down It just didn't fit in with the rest of my collection and I didn't want to leave it alone with all my Lasonics, Crowns, Helix' and other boxes because I was afraid they would eat it. So I sold it to Ira

:-D

BIGGEST LETDOWN EVER!!! I bought one for a puny $40 but it was still wasted-all the pushbuttons will quickly kill the circuit board by overloading if you push one in too fast. Very cheap feel as well, but the speakers are top notch when put in a box with a good amp and tuner (Like my Custom 4636 :surf:  ) Very cheap and when it's on ebay it normally goes over $115??? No IN LINE either

:-O Seriously? I have some stories to tell with that box :-D Chicks Dig IT!!! I bought it for a firm $15 at the local Indoor flea (passed up the military looking hitachi, can't remember the model) and all the girls were looking at it saying 'AWW IT"S SO CUTE!!! CAN WE POSE WITH IT???!!!" How could I refuse them such happiness, there were 3 girls and they each took turns propping it up on their shoulders and taking the signature myspace pics-Then I somehow managed to get it back from the (by now it was warm from the 3 of them holding it). And then I got home, posted some pics on here, and a few hours later Ira was the new owner :-)

I think it is the pc 5-it has a plain look to it if I recall, the pc 55 had a lot going on with the speakers, and controls etc. Let me find the number, it's an hour from my house. :hmmm:

:agree: with Chris and Ira, the JVC RC-550 and that big Lloyds PT-003 would be two of my biggest performance let downs. I kept the 550 because it's so damn cool but let the Lloyds go because it just wasn't doing anything for me.

call me crazy, but the only JVC I ever had was when I was 12-it was the M71 (gold) and it was in the dumpster at the local flea, I left it there not knowing how rare it was :'-( I also (at 9) destroyed a Helix Wheely behind my house after the tapes stopped working

I may have a chance to redeem myself and hook OS69 up

Finally, a topic that is actually an easy one for me. My biggest letdown would have to be my JVC PC-2. It has a nice weight (not heavy for its size though) and looks fantastic. However, the sound is abysmal. It almost reminds me of a transistor radio.

I know, but they were plentiful where I came from (two could be found at every flea market when I lived in Ft. Lee Virginia-this was between 1996-2001 (9-11 forced my family to move -Army brat)

Still no excuse though, I wish I could go back in time and stop myself, and give my former self a months paycheck to save.
