The Panasonic rx dt 680 has some AMAZING features especially when recording a cd onto a tape. It will calculate to make sure all songs will fit on the tape on both sides of the tape. U can choose from three recording options. Pretty cool. All this on a box that produces the best bass of any boombox I've heard (including the kaboom).

Yes, the DT-680 is a great box for sure - has to be one of the best sounding boxes for indoor use. ;-)

At the meet yesterday we talked about decks and my mind has seen the light. I will be keeping my eyes peeled down the line for some more quality logic decks. Analog music be it vinyl or cassette is just easier on the ears.

The Sony CFD770 is a great unit and has a very smart deck. You can dub from tape to tape high speed or normal. You can record from cd to cassette at high speed or normal. If you are recording from cd and the tape tends say on side A it will flip the tape and ffwd the tape to the blank spot on the tape and continue recording. It was a very nice unit. I bought one in 1991 for $550.00 brand new.

Wow, high speed dubbing from CD-Tape. I never knew that was possible. I like the tape flipping feature and removal of the tape leader before continuing. The Japanese are really brilliant when it comes to thinking out the usability.

$550 was a lot of money in 1991. By then everything had gone by the way of super cheap manufacturing and low cost dictated everything in the portable world.

The rx dt680 does this and more. It will even re calculate and rearrange the songs on the CD to be recorded if it determines that the songs will not fit on the tape in their sequential order.

wow... now that is amazing! I have never heard of that before.

There is something cool about adapting computer control to an analogue device.
