I can only afford low to mid range machines now - I simply cannot justify stupid money for what you could pick up in the 1990's for peanuts!! I think I have enough now anyway - The hobby is becoming less than exciting & it's a minefield out there it seems!! I'm happy with the few I have left to repair, they will keep me going for a few months I guess!
NB: Just thinking about the 90's 2000's again........Technics direct drive turntables!! Has anyone seen what they are going for now?? Just bloody ridiculous
£300 to £400 for an SL-D2 the same as mine & the rest of that range from 1981/82 like the SL-D202/303 a slimline version of mine & the SL-D1 & 2 linear trackers (Full size not midi) these are selling for strong money at prices way more then when they were brand new
You really need to factor in a new cartridge/stylus if you want to use it seriously, so that's even more expense!!
Many Boomers are commanding just plain stupid figures by the sellers - Sharp GF-6060 for £150 for example
Many Panny's set at even higher prices for BIN - I guess that's why my interest just feels like it's waning.......I wish it wasn't & I hope to live to an age where nice stereo's are once again affordable!! At least one can always return anytime to this hobby I've had a wonderful time & met some real characters through this pastime & gained more & more experience thanks to forum members & indeed facebook members, many of whom have brought or sent me repairs for them!! I stopped doing that now as it was becoming overwhelming & a tad stressful but I am very grateful to one & all for being a part of this crazy pastime!! &: it's only a matter of time before one of us gets another great deal or find!!
