This is a Columbia RN-1500M Beat Boy aka of the Hitachi trk-7800. A
100v tone box that I donated to the cleanup department at work. This is the little brother to the rn-3000.

I know I'm kicking a really old thread here, but I had a knock-off version of this (and this itself looks like a knock-off of a Hitachi 3D boombox) as a kid. Looking at this one I am 99% sure they used the exact same plastic molds for the case, but they put in some crappy-ass speakers, like the left/right speakers were paltry 2W paper cone garbage speakers, and the 'woofer' was either the same one or marginally higher wattage. It sounded like absolute ****, I just wanted it because they made it look really cool and big and powerful in a mail order catalogue. Kids are f*ing stupid :D I think the fantasy brand was Soundwave, a German brand from mail order catalogue Otto.

I still feel the hate for the damn thing all these years later, it was such a terrible piece of ****. Even back then it motivated me to just get some old vintage gear and fix it up myself so I at least had something of good quality.

Edit: lol at the 'profanity' filtering, when did the puritanism creep in?
