And you need to search around to find the right file for the right unit. There are different files for different regions.
I messed about with mine for a while until I searched and found a different file for Europe and then it worked after a bit of messing about. For example, even though it worked, nothing showed on the display. Lazy programming and development from TDK on the firmware front.

Can you send me a link to a firmware you used? Mine bricked trying to update and I just want any sort of firmware that has been known to work. Thanks!

It's on Boomboxery library, here: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/gq4b62c9gjw5w/TDK
The one you want is https://www.mediafire.com/file/t76lgeym4cmuyt0/TDK_3-Speaker_%28TP6803BLK%29_Firmware_Upgrade.7z/file
That's the last firmware TDK released. The version is embedded near the end of the file: "TDK 3 VER: 2.3.7 2011-09-26 America"
The firmware update instructions are here:

TDK released two copies of the update instructions, one in October 2011 and a revision in January 2012.
They added warnings to notes 6 and 13, stressing the importance of an empty flash drive. And your patience.
Here are the original and revised entries

When I did mine, it wasn't straight forward and several reboots and messing around with nothing on the display actually worked,. I left mine for about 30 minutes as instructed but it didn't do anything so I turned it off and tried rebooting without the flash drive in and it semi booted so I tried again. After about 4 tries with the American version it worked, but I am in Europe so I needed the Euro firmware which I found somewhere online. Did the same routine and eventually it worked with several reboots at different times after flashing.

There's different firmware for Europe? That's odd, the unit shouldn't be any different. And it's DC input, so it doesn't matter what the voltage is.

Yeh mate, the US version is different for the radio than the Euro version. As far as I could tell that was the only difference.

I can't fully remember but I think that when on the US version you couldn't set the turner to European but it was available on the European version of the firmware.

This is the file properties of the one I downloaded from here:

And the file that worked on mine which I got from S2G is:

It is slightly larger in size but this second one is the one that worked fully for my system.
And this is what I followed for it to work in my case.

With member caution, we have done some more digging on this as I have a spare parts unit and I can confirm the following:

The boomboxery 2 speaker file version is "America" and despite setting the radio region to Europe, the tuner does not work on European models.
This is the version info of the firmware installed from boomboxery archives:

The other complete model I have has the "Europe" version installed and with the tuner region set to Europe, it works great.
Here is the link to the "European" version - https://gofile.io/d/2VEGBp

Just to avoid any confusion, you were mistakenly comparing the 2-speaker firmware on Boomboxery Library to the 3-speaker firmware on S2G (and Boomboxery Library).

Agreed thanks Eric, I have compared the "America" version, downloadable from boomboxery archives, with the Europe version and they appear the same size so there must be a flag set in the firmware setting the region to either America or Europe.

Suggest that the archive is updated to state the current one in there is America and to upload the Europe version (which is 2.2.9) for safe keeping.

Still very odd. The Euro box doesn't have DAB, does it? Just AM/FM. So the tuner circuitry and programming should be the same.
