Hey all
I have one of these TDK TP6802BLK Boombox . Got it when it first came out. Tried to upgrade with a usb stick with TDK supports instructions.
Don't think it worked then and should have sent it in while it was still under warranty. So it sat there and years later I thought I would fire it up and see what's what. It turned on but no sound.
Today I thought i would follow the upgrade (TP6802-AVR32FWUpgrade.uc3) steps and see if it'll fix the sound. The upgrade display came on and i clicked ok, Left it going for two hours trying to be patient. It never finished so I turned it off. Now nothing turns on, No lights. Brick mode now. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks

Try a different USB drive. It may not be compatible. Aim for a stick that was available when these were manufactured. Don't worry it is totally recoverable.

yes i bricked 2 of these and they are recoverable so dont panic, the flash drive Must be totally empty with just the firmware on there, i remember that much

Use a different USB stick. Format it FAT32, volume name TDKFLASH, and totally empty except for the file. Drain all power from the boombox by holding a button down, then plug it back in, insert the USB, and just turn it on, don't hold any buttons down like they told you to. Eventually the screen will activate when it's complete.

No luck here. Tried a couple older usb sticks. Formated each stick..
I wonder if we are supposen to leave the file Zipped?
Because I unzipped the file and changed all to lower case font..

Still in $300 Brick Mode...lol

Same here. I searched the internet all day yesterday trying to get a fix. The bad thing is that it was working perfect until I saw there was a update to make it even better. Now like you I have a $300 paperweight. If I find anything out I will be sure to let you know. Enjoy your day. Even if it is quiet with no boombox.

Did anyone have any luck? Mine just got bricked today. I tried it zipped, unzipped, different flash drives, holding for 15 seconds, 1 second, holding 15 seconds, and holding for 15 seconds, 1 second, 1 second, and waiting 15. Nothing. Just a blank screen

The stick needs to an early generation like USB 1.1 and max of 2GB. The Radio needs the power supply connected. There maybe issues with the original power supply stupid switch mode, try changing with a Laptop charger.

And you need to search around to find the right file for the right unit. There are different files for different regions.
I messed about with mine for a while until I searched and found a different file for Europe and then it worked after a bit of messing about. For example, even though it worked, nothing showed on the display. Lazy programming and development from TDK on the firmware front.
