He is like a UNICORN and you found one! Nice and close to home. You can see he cares simply from the plastic he has the other units wrapped in.

Dear me, that was a good day with surprise after surprise after surprise.......... I would have been smiling to myself all the way home, I mean, just how lucky was this? I hope the chap really does know his stuff and live up to your expectations, he sounds like the type of chap who'd be really handy to have on your doorstep.

Believe it or not I despise porn , who needs a computer dating service ,real men harass women in person lol.

You should tell the repair guy he could make few bucks if he fixed and sold the boomboxes in his shop ,I'm sure once he had 10 or so on display serviced and ready to sell I mean who is the hell could ignore that.

im not interested myself lad just egging you on lol, my days with the ladies are well over haha, as for my guy selling radios well it's a good idea bud but you can't sell anything to the welsh (thank god im not) the only thing that keeps this place going is booze and drugs, much like anywhere else i guess :-)

another thing, it took him 3 months to fix my m90's so i guess that's not much of a turn around for him

10 minutes is awesome and you gotta let us know his prices. The place in Chicago, Martroy Electronics, was so costly and way over hour drive one way for me. Here in Florida I found a tech who worked on GM AC Delco for 30 years. He’s about hour drive and super cheap. I haven’t had to use him yet but if I ever need to I most likely will!!!

I thought the same thing when I saw the plastic on the units in there. All of those are in perfect condition. I don;t know if he cleaned them up or if they came in that way. Those are all finished units.

I hope he does too. I spoke with him last night, he hasn't started working on the radio yet, he called about the car.

I'm definitely not done doing my own work. I just want to get my most challenging decks professionally serviced. Most recently, after using the Clairtone 7979 I got from THAFUZZ that has been fully serviced and the Aiwa TPR950 I got from Sal that has also been fully serviced, I love the sound of these high end decks.

I also have a few radios that are so close to being done, but still have some tiny electrical issue I can't work through, like my Wheely. I recently replaced the "Mock Up" decks I had stuffed in to fill the void of missing decks with actual Wheely decks I got from Blu_Fuz earlier this year and had serviced outside of the radio by the LA tech who did my 7979. The decks work great, but are stuck on high speed dubbing. I have checked everything in that box, tried everything I could think of and consulted with the tech section here on Boomboxery. NOTHING! So that will be on the list of items to go in. If he can fix those decks, then it's 100% repaired.

Another radio I want fixed is my Lasonic TRC-951. The radio is dead and it needs the decks rebuilt. That box is in really nice condition and ultra rare. I would love to have it fully working.

And then there's the.....    OH GAWD!!!!! IT JUST NEVER ENDS!

I'm so happy to read about that. My tech is at about 10 minutes from my place and that's bliss!

But I was pretty confident that you were going to find somebody who deals with vintage electronics in Naples. In Italy, especially in the southern regions, you can still find many good old school technician. The fact is, southerners are on average less wealthy than northerners. People tend to repair whatever stops working rather than throwing things away. At home people still use a lot of vintage electronics, and it is precisely for this reason that many techs still have the right know-how.

Great news then! Now you should start asking the guy if he knows were to find the kind of vintage electronics you're after. Remember: the Aviano military base means that a lot of top-notch boomboxes reached the shores of Naples back in the day. How many are still out there is for you to find out...

Thanks Sal, you were so right when you told me that during your visit. I didn't know how I was going to find him, but I found him.

Thanks Jeff, I know what you mean. Some projects just hit a wall. I was looking through the collection at projects that I couldn't finish 100% and I am going to prioritize them. Depending on his prices, I will start sending them over when I can afford too.

So, I was in his shop yesterday. Picked up my wife's car. He told me he would be starting on the Palladium in a day or so. We talked about it's issues in more detail. Not really much to tell. It's 100$ working, but the deck is wobbly and in need of belts. Common issues, slips when fast forwarding and rewinding a little. The buttons are crackly and sometimes you need to click them a few times to get them locked in. No big deal. Should be a walk in the park. If he can get this deck singing at the right speed, then we will move forward.

Maybe to my GF 777 that needs to be cleaned and rebelted. Man that would be a nice one to have the decks dialed in.
