Seeing that pic, brings back memories. I received mine, from hugo (driptip). I don`t know, if he had done it, but, the belts had been put on wrong. It played backwards.

The strangest thing with this Zilbap was that when i originally bought her the tape was completely dead. I just pushed the play and saw that is dead and the very same time a friend called me to talk with him outside. I forgot to release the play and went out. After 15 minutes or so i came back home and damn - the boomer was booming . It was playing the tape . Thats my most easiest ever fix . The wired thing - my other easiest "fix" was on not playing tape of sony cfs-f5 - i forgot the play and turned the boomer upside down to see the screws and damn another miracle - this one started to play too. Looks like something getting stuck on those sonys and is damn easy fix. Even not sure what kind of easy fix
