I doubt flattening it will improve the sound. I think it is more for the adhesion. On my van, I did roll it down on all interior panels. Took a weekend to do this thing. Amazing improvement over road drone. That said, I would have been afraid to crack the radio's case. It is kind of thin and fragile. The screw posts already have that dreaded "White stress line".

Yes it's for adhesion but also performance. You can just use strong pressure from your fingers or a dowel if there's no room for a roller.

What kind of van is that? Dodge, looks like? I am thinking about a van for a mobile office camper kinda thing. Too bad none of them have sinks and toilets though, lol.

I did press down with a long reach Phillips screw driver as I rolled it with finger pressure. The case has a bunch of ribs. When I tap on the backside of the case it is definitely a hefty thunk absorbed sound.

the van is a Ram ProMaster. I use it for work but I do not advertise on it for liability reasons. You could do a “compost” toilet. People build these things up like mini houses. I have my own large undertaking currently going on...
I cut and raised the roof and welded in for RV windows which I haven’t cut the sheet steel out yet. Bus is a former 40’ rear engine diesel school bus with an Allison 3060 Transmission. I hope to finish it before I die!

Thanks for the video link. Yep, I was one to buy it for the looks over the performance. It is too bad that you can't buy a cassette deck with a quality Japanese mechanism. Perhaps if there is a decent resurgence of cassettes that manufacturers may come up with something decent.
