None of my boxes, but my neighbor's Coby Kaboom knockoff...

What a hunk of poo!!

 Usually we wonder how good a box sounds but in this case I always wondered how crappy those Coby knockoffs sounded.
:hmmm:

Wonder no longer, it's hideous. Like playing music really loud over the telephone.

I understand some people may not want to deal with restoring an old box, but if you are going to get a modern one, at least get something with balls. Like this:

I know it's ugly, but the comments about the sound may lead me to buy one. I'll post a review if I do.

I thought of getting one of those also.Unfortunately the 5 EQ presets are all fixed values. With no custom option I wouldn't pay that for the box.Presets just never bring out the highs the way I like to hear them.

I agree Jovie! I hate, Hate, HATE preset eqs.

However the nice thing about being an electrical engineer is I can change what I don't like.

I would definitely add an eq to this box. I just need enough space to locate some knobs to make it look "factory." I'm sure there is enough area inside for an additional small PCB. Eq circuits draw very little power, so no messing with the stock power supply.

I'd have to destroy my GE 6035A (or whatever friggin' number it is) cuz it's already pretty much toast anyway.
