I agree, Tony. :yes: A back cover for the shelves would definitely help. It's difficult to see if Ira's shelves have a back though. :-/

bobby -- there is no back --and no lateral supports-

it doesnt need them --
even though we think our boxes are heavy - :-) :dunce: :dunce: -
they are nothing like books or records.

so even 6 'grails' :-D
== < 200 lbs
which is very light duty for 3/4 boards.

but you have a top and bottom which lends some lateral stability, a back wouldn't hurt but as you say probably isn't necessary.

:agree:
even ANY little back panel (like TWO 6" strips, at any height, across the back)
or a few 2" diags --say 12 " off the two top corners--
would make the case much more stable --
i just did ok without them

I have a good idea of what I'll be doing this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration, Ira! :thumbsup:

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's for wire shelving. That's where I got mine. You can get Champagne, Black, White, and I think Red. Plus you can look at a variety of heights, depths or widths. :yes:

thanks for all the info fellas. The walmart wire racks sound tempting, but I think I'm feeling a bit more creative.
We'll just have to wait and see. :hmmm:

I agree that Ed & Geoff's displays look top-notch! Museum-like, even!!!!

As for trying to do this in your space, is there an Ikea nearby? They may have the creative, easy, cheap answer you are looking for....
