Sharp VZ-2500 - no FM reception

Hi, I've now got myself a Sharp VZ2500 to fix up... for fun you understand..

So it's in lovely physical condition except that the FM, record and tape dont work Tape is the same mech as the 2000, so thats been just a new roller and belts (doing now) and the record player belt is mush - done.

But I don't know where to start with the FM. I''ve sprayed contact cleaner into the record bar while it's in bits before investigating. Are no- FM issues common and repairable? And where to start tracing the fault? I;m not good with actual electronics but can measure resitances and voltages etc, so pointers are very very welcome.

Hey, not the reply you probably want, but I've tried and tried to get FM reception to work on my VZ-2000 with no luck, even took it to a local vintage radio guy and he couldn't work it out.

Just curious, does AM work?

On my VZ-3500 I had to clean that FM switch repeatedly like 5 times (30 times back and forth movement each time) to make it work.
So, cleaning it once might not be enough.
